Serendipity
"Are you really pregnant?" He blatantly asked.
I stood there looking at him, genuinely waiting for my answer. I can't help but to let out a chuckle.
"Why are you laughing? Is it true?" He asked all confused, I just realized how big of a crush I have on him, he's so cute! Ugh.
"Wait, do you actually think I'm pregnant?" This time I bursted out in laughter.
"So, you're not?" He scratched his head. I'm laughing but on the inside I'm dying with innocent cuteness!
"Oh, Sky. You're so naive. Of course, not." I stuttered as I saw him let out a big sigh. Oh, Sky if you only knew.
"Oh, that's good." He stated as he continued carrying me outside. Wait, is he actually relieved that I'm not preggo? Or is it just me?
Maybe I am ill.
"I can walk from here." I stated as we got near my dad's car where he was waiting.
He let go of my waist and glared at me, "You sure? Cause I can—"
"Yeah, thanks." I interrupted him to mislead him about earlier, I remembered I got my ego crushed, damn. Though I can't help but think of what he meant before the nurse rudely interrupted.
"Oh, okay. Take... care." He stammered, biting his lips. His dull blue eyes shimmered with the sunlight, he looks bothered by something, wonder what he's thinking right now.
I waved and said, "Okay... See ya."
And as I was about to turn around, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
"H-hey!"
"W-will you go out with me?!" He bursted out.
"Wh-what?!" Now I know I am really ill.
Am I still dreaming? I know this is what I've been waiting for, but this is all too fast, like we rarely even talk at school. I doubt he even knows me. "But you barely know me,"
"Barely?" His eyes widened.
"I had a crush on you since junior high, I stalk you almost everyday on all your social media. Heck, I even go to your violin recitals, though I sit at the far back so you can't see me." Wait, this is both creepy and a dream come true at the same time, he actually knows I play violin. Is this even real?!
My heart clenched as I felt his shaky sweaty palms hold mine as he then looked deeper into my eyes and flashed a smile, "Helena Holmes, will you please go out with me?"
I froze as I looked at him, practically giving me puppy eyes, he knows well. I mean, my all-time crush just asked me if I could go out with him, how can I refuse that?
"I'm sorry, but this is too quick for me. Can I first think this through?" Of course, the hopeless romantic that I am told myself to say no.
Okay, minutes ago I was fantasizing about us being friends so we could hang out and then it went to this? Tell me, this is literally too good to be true or something's fishy? I don't know.
What do I know I never had a guy ask me out before. What do I know about the feeling, am I right?
But still...
His ocean blue eyes narrowed, his features dimmed, his smile turned into a frown, "So, you're rejecting me?"
beeep
The sound of my dad's car horn interrupted me before I could give him an answer and realized we were still on the parking lot and dad practically saw I'm talking to a guy. Which is not a good thing since he dislikes it every time I try to share to him that I have a crush.
"I'm sorry," Was all I said and ran into our car, leaving him unanswered.
~~~
I buckled myself into our car seat as we left going home, "Who was that?" Dad asked suspiciously, looking at me through his high graded glasses.
"Uhh, he helped me after I fainted." I answered looking away.
"I told you," He snickered somewhat amused he was right. Again.
I looked outside at the passing cars on the busy street. "Yeah, you were right, I was wrong, I'm still sick."
"Your symptoms doesn't add up to any illnesses though, I'm still examining you. Maybe its..." He scratched his dark brown hair with grey accents that matched his dull dark blue eyes, well representing his age.
I looked at him, "Maybe what?"
He shook his head and laughed at himself. "Nothing, you're fine."
"Hmm, but still. I do hope I'd get better on Sunday though, so we could enjoy my birthday." I smiled looking at him from the rear view mirror.
He cleared his throat, "Hmm honey, about that—I got a surgery on friday and I can't come home til the next morning. I know, I've been busy but I'll make it up to you, let's celebrate your birthday after my shift, we'll go to disneyland, how's that sound?" His hands grasped the steering wheel tightly, his dull eyes looking worried on the busy road.
Wow, he never misses my birthday, not even once. But... it's okay, I know how much he loves his job, he's the best surgeon in town after all.
"Great." I answered.
He raised his eyebrow, "Sarcastic?"
I shook my head and laughed, "Of course not, dad. I understand you have a busy job, it's for us after all."
"That's why I love you, my 'Lil Lena." He smiled and kissed my cheek. Love you too dad, now to make a little arrangement.
Hey! I thought about it, and I think Sunday would be awesome. Can't wait to see you! 💖
