I turned around to see a familiar ghost. But she likes to be called a spirit! I rolled my eyes, and whirled back around and continued walking home. And walking away from the spirit that was in my kitchen. I don't even want to go into the kitchen anymore because I'm scared she's gonna pop out of one of the draws or cabinets. She walked beside me while smirking. "Well." She said. "Apologize to Lane." I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Are you kidding me?" I said. "Did you not just see what happen back there? This was a bet. He was betted to talk to the freak girl, and become her friend, and he took the bet. He probably didn't even want to be my friend. He was probably pretending this whole time."

She looked at me and raised a brow. "Did you even ask him about it?" She said. "For all we know that girl could have made this up."

"Well when he said 'it wasn't like that'..I kinda figured he did." I said as I continued walking.

"Well maybe it wasn't like that." She said. "You didn't even give him time to explain."

I rolled my eyes. But it was true. Maybe it was like that, and I didn't give him time to explain. "It doesn't matter..He probably doesn't even want to take to me now." I said groaning. "Ugh! Why do I have to be such a drama queen?"

She smiled, and rolled her eyes. "Maybe you should try and talk to him." She said.

"You know I think the only reason your telling me to do this...Is because you want me to save Lane." I said as she frowned.

"No, it's because I don't want to see you sad." She muttered. I was about to ask why...But she disappeared. I sighed, and wished I never did what I did to Lane. I mean maybe it wasn't really like that. I should of done the uncliche thing to do, and let him explain. I sighed. Tomorrow I will talk to him at school.

I walked home as the wind began to blow again. That's when I knew something wasn't right. I could feel it. "Find Lane." A voice whispered in the wind. My heart dropped as I began to run. I knew exactly where to look. I began running towards the place where Lane was this morning. Where he gave me the locket. For now on in calling it the secret place. "Run faster!" I did as I was told, and ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Soon I was at the school. School was still in session. Since I left around like forth period. I ran through the woods, and to the secret place. That's when I saw Lane. He was laying on the ground. I could see the locket beside him as he was closing his eyes. Then I saw and unwanted guest. The dark smoke now had a face. It was a girl. Her eyes were black, and her eyes looked like the smokey eyes, she had black lips, very pale, she was smiling as she looked at Lanes necklace. She moved with the wind. She didn't have legs. Everything besides her face was black smoke.

She got closer to Lane and his necklace, and I had to stop her. But I couldn't let her know I can see her. I don't know why, but something was telling me I couldn't.

"Lane!" I yelled running towards him. He jerked up, and looked towards me. And guess what I did again? Tripped and started tumbling down next to him. I groaned and pain, and the ghost disappeared. Mission complete.

"Shay?" Lane said.

Oh great..Now I get to face Lane. Super.

"Hi." I say getting up, and dusting off the leaves and dust of me. I smiled and looked over at him. He looked shocked and confused.

"What are you doing here? I thought you left." He said looking down at the locket. The locket. The ghost wanted the locket! But why? I knew it wasn't safe with Lane, but I also knew he wasn't going to give it back. I mean I kinda hurt his feelings....

I sighed. "I did leave, but I came back." I said biting his lip. He still looked confused as he nodded. "I just wanted to say I'm really, really, really, really, really, really, really, freaking sorry." I said looking at him. He played with the necklace as a smile formed on his lips.

"Sure you are." He says sarcastically.

"I am!" I whined. He rolls his eyes playfully as he laughed.

"Okay I forgive you." He said as he handed me the necklace.

"Your giving it back to me?" I asked a little shocked. He smiled and nodded. I smiled and took it. I put the necklace around me and clipped it. "So about that bet? Mind filling me in?"

He awkwardly laughed, and scratched the back of his neck. "Well Kaden, and Liam, and me...Heard that this 'crazy' girl was coming to our school, and they betted that I couldn't become friends with her. And so I did." he says as I nodded. "And before you say anything! I did want to be friends with you. After I talked to you, I couldn't stay away from you."

I smiled, and nodded. "Probably should of let you explain that before I stormed off." I said as he shrugged.

"Oh well." He said. "And don't let that one girl get to you. She's something else. No one really likes her besides her minions and 'boy toys'." I nodded as his eyes lit up. "Let's go get ice cream."

I smiled and nodded. He got up and started walking back. But like last time I stayed there. "Are you coming?" he said as he raised an eyebrow.

"In a second." I said as he nodded. He walked away and I looked around. That's when my heart dropped, and I froze right then and there. The smoke figure was looking at me, and glaring. She looked at me up and down. She looked at my locket, and glared. Something tells me she now knows I could see her.

"Find Lane and run!" A voice whispered.
