My first week, in the end, turned out to be better then I thought it would be. Sedona kept surprising me. Although, I think it may have had something to do with Jeb. We were in the same class for last period, he turned out to be quite the clown. I didn't know what it was, it wasn't that I liked him, no not in the least. But he seemed like someone I had known forever, like an old soul. He was easy to get along with. And it wasn't his looks that made me like him, because boy did he have them, but he was...funny, easygoing, and I just enjoyed being around him.
I caught myself smiling as I thought about him. What was my deal? I had already been with this type before, and it wasn't fun. Plus, he wasn't interested me, and I wasn't interested in him. Neither one us was each others type. I was the artsy edgy one, Hot Topic; while he was the athletic cover model, Abercrombie.
"So, I would totally hang out with you this afternoon but....I have more important things to do with my life." Jeb tossed his backpack in his car before turning to face me with a crooked smile. I watched as his muscles flex when he reached to pull his shirt over his head, revealing a sculpted figure.
I had trouble getting a smart comeback together. God what was wrong with me. "Oh really, like what, because I am just dying to hang out with a meat head like you." I smiled a Sadistic smile.
He ruffled the top of my hair. "Nice one. But really, I have practice."
We started walking back towards the front of the school. It amazed me at how easily we fell into step beside each other. "And what sport would this be for."
"Hmm, let's see...football and swimming."
"You swim?" Was there anything that he didn't do? Then again this was the guy I called Abercrombie that we were talking about.
"I actually prefer it more then I prefer football."
"Then drop football and focus on swimming." I thought back to the day when I saw him for the second time in the store. His hair had been semi wet.
"I wish It were that simple." He nudged me with that smile of his on his face. We stopped and his tall figure shadowed mine. His smile deepened and something changed in his eyes. I felt my self fidgeting. Why was I reacting this way. "Hey, I gotta go, but give me your number and we can talk later?"
I was phased for a moment before coming back to myself. "So that's how you get their numbers."
"Who's?" He smiled.
"Your millions of girlfriends of course."
"Are you implying that you're my girlfriend?" His voice became seductive as he leaned closer.
I pushed him back with the palm of my hand. "Sorry, I'm not into the meat head type."
His eyes became playful. "Hey Jeb!" We both looked to see a guy with similar features coming our way. I'd seen him around the school before. "Come on, coach says we're already late...who's this? She's hot...in like a gothic chic way."
I squinted my eyes while Jeb rolled his. "Abby meet the true meat head...Kiran. Kiran, meet the creative Abby."
He nodded a hello before smacking his arm and jogging back the way he came. "Stop flirting and hurry up!" he called over his shoulder. I felt my cheeks warm.
"Give me your phone." He said suddenly.
"What?"
He sighed as if I were the slowest person on the planet. "You won't give me your number, so I'll give you mine." He said casually. I slowly handed over my phone. "There." He nudged me again before walking away.
