Four Days Earlier
21st April, 2018Park Jimin
It was just a normal, ordinary day.
I had just came home from a busy day at work, throwing my socks in a corner, and plopping down on my bed; relaxed.
I grabbed the TV remote and switched the damn thing on, flipping a couple of channels, before pausing to stare at the face of Jennie Kim, the local news reporter in our city. She covered many stories happening in Seoul, and was a crowd favourite. As I watched, she spoke in front of the large structure of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology, or simply; KAIST.
".....and yes, they confirmed to have completed this project, and are ready to show the world!" Jennie spoke. "Here, we have Dr. Young Kim Soo, the director of the project, with us. Tell me, doctor, is the serum really this unique?"
The camera zoomed out to include another woman in the picture; the apparent doctor.
"Why, yes." The woman affirmed. "It is everything that we hoped for. As soon as the government sends it's approval, the KinectoGrowth will be available in every single town and city across the country."
"Wonderful! And how will this serum be useful?" Jennie asked.
"This serum is the work of almost twenty years." Dr. Young smiled. "It can treat any disease, any injury, any sickness of any kind. It has already been tested on various test subjects, which all show a positive response."
"It sounds amazing, doctor. Thankyou." Jennie turned back to the camera. "So, you heard it folks! First interview, right here with Seoul National News Network. Be sure to tune in later to view the weeks' weather report with our very own Jackson Wang...."
And so, the news ended.
Honestly, I was pretty excited for this Kinectogrowth stuff. I had had asthma since birth, and it seemed as if the stuff would be able to patch things up.
Content, I snuggled myself into a more comfortable position and dug into my bowl of rice ravenously, eyes occasionally flitting over to the television screen. According to the news line, the KinectoGrowth would be available by the next day in local pharmacies.
I couldn't wait.

"And we are here, live at the scene, where the researchers just announced the release of the serum!" Jennie was on the news again next morning, squealing excitedly to the camera.
I was tying up my laces, preparing to go to this blind date my friend had set me up on, just about to leave, when the news had caught my attention.
"Delivery trucks are stationed behind me as we speak, ready to spread out this amazing miracle!"
I chuckled, about to turn it off, when something strange caught my eye.
Behind Jennie, a lot of people had gathered outside KAIST. They were cheering and hooting.
Then it hit me.
They weren't cheers. The people were screaming.
But...nothing seemed wrong. Jennie still had a smile on her face. The camera was still filming. The background music was still playing.
However, even as I watched, a large bang of some sort echoed out through the device. The reporter's eyes widened, and the people behind her started running, screaming, crying for help. The last thing I saw was a man who limped out of the building as if drunk, and leapt on someone else.
And the screen turned blue, showing a poor signal sign on it.
I stared at it in disbelief, fear crawling out through my veins. Something had obviously just happened. But what...?
And then someone banged on the front door.
