Kim Namjoon

It had been two days since Jungkook's death. Me and Taehyung had been travelling since then, rarely stopping, only to get a bite to eat. I had convinced him that the sooner we get to the safe place Dr. Young mentioned, the better it would be. He had agreed without much thought, the sorrow of losing his best friend weighing him down.

But, we were making good progress. If my calculations were accurate, we would reach there in a day and a half.

We hadn't encountered any zombies. The only presence came to our notice had been one or two figures really far off, and we weren't even sure if they had been zombies, or survivors like us. But, it was too risky to check, so we hadn't paid them much heed.

By now, we were in a hilly desolate area, where the rocky hills stretched up above us towards the sky, almost ranging on mountains. Before coming here, we had pillaged a grocery store for supplies, so we had a backpack for that each.

My foot caught on a crack and I stumbled, grunting in pain. Taehyung's hand supported me. "I thought it healed." he frowned.

I smiled back. "It's okay, don't worry."

He sighed and I could see in his eyes how exhausted he was. "Namjoon, can't we rest for a bit? It's been two days and I haven't slept-"

As much as I wanted to say yes, I couldn't. "There's just a little more way. Tell you what; if along the way we find shelter of any kind, then we'll rest. But not in the open, agreed?"

He nodded, rubbing his eyes.

I patted his back and started walking again, trying to ignore the dull pain in my calf.

We walked for most of the day. By evening, we reached a village of some sort, with a few abandoned shops and apartment buildings, set deep inside a valley. Taehyung grinned.

"We can rest now~" he sang, making his way towards the nearest shop. I shook my head in bemusement and followed him, watching him disappear inside.

And then he screamed.

Dread clutched my heart as I ran towards the ramshackle hut, banging open the door and raising my club, when what I saw made me stop in my tracks.

Taehyung was on the floor, pinned down by a figure in a black hoodie, gasping heavily.

That was when I recognized the anonymous man.

"Y-yoongi?"

He looked up at me, anger transforming into alarm. "Joon? What're you doing here, I thought you were dead-"

"Well, we're not, and will you please let go of Taehyung, he's turning blue."

He realized who he was pinning and hurriedly got off. "Sorry." he muttered to Taehyung, who was gasping for air.

Yoongi stood up and walked towards me, half raising his arms for a hug, but I stepped back coldly. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "You said you were leaving."

"Well, I did that." he stepped away awkwardly too. "Then I met someone who told me about this place up on the mountains-"

My anger abated. "You know about it too? D'you know the exact way?"

"'Course." he smugly smiled. "I've been there."

-

"I told them I had friends still in danger, but none of them came with me." Yoongi's dark hair fell into his eyes as he stared at a spot on the floor. "So I packed a couple of stuff and went out searching for you guys, and I...well, I found you."

He took a deep shuddering breath. "Well, not all of you, but..."

We had told him about the others, and he hadn't really taken it well. Especially the bit about Hoseok.

Taehyung slung an arm around his shoulders.

"Cheer up, yoongo boongo." he cooed. "The positive thing is that we're still safe and you're here with us now."

Yoongi smiled weakly at him, then turned his gaze towards me. "Joon, I'm sorry I left. It was so stupid and I regretted it as soon as I was ten feet away. I was just so scared, I'm sorry..."

Finally, I cracked a smile. "Its okay. I understand."

And he smiled back.

"So," Taehyung asked, "If you've been to the safe place, where is it exactly?"

"It's just past those hills up there." Yoongi pointed out the window. "trouble is, there's a bunch of zombies in this area, because they detect the human flesh in the camp. They can't get in there so they prowl out here."

"How'd you get past in the first place?"

"I ran."

"Hm."

"No, seriously. But you're in no condition to run, and Taehyung doesn't know how to, so-"

"Hey!" Taehyung protested.

"-we only have one option left." Yoongi ignored the fuming younger. "We sneak."

I furrowed my brows. "What do you mean? Sneak in from where?"

"From the path I took back here." He stated matter-of-factly. "It's underground and it's pretty dark most of the way, but we'll have to make do."

After contemplating a bit, I agreed, and seeing as how Taehyung was yawning now, suggested we rest for the night.

-

I was shaken awake. Yoongi put his hands to his lips as he gestured out of the open window.

Slowly, I got up and peered out, quickly ducking from view soon after. "How'd they find us?" I whispered.

Yoongi shrugged.

"Namjoon, what do we do?" Taehyung asked.

"A distraction."

"Will explosions work?"

I stared dubiously at Yoongi for a couple of seconds. "Where d'you propose we'll find explosions in a grocery store-"

"My bag." He said, already digging in his satchel. “I nicked a couple of grenades off the commander in the camp. I don't think he noticed.”

“Okay, and do you know how to use them?”

He frowned. “I mean, all you do is pull the key thing out, and it goes kabloom. Should be easy enough.”

“Right.” I rolled my eyes amusedly, while Taehyung actually laughed a bit.

a/n; alright, which one of you hoes missed me?
