00:00Kim Namjoon
Three of us had died. One of us had left. Only three remained.
My heart clenched with pain on losing my friends. We had known each other since first grade; me, Hoseok, Yoongi and Seokjin. The younger three had eventually joined our group later on. And Yoongi? He had been the first friend I had made, and the fact that he left us just like that...
I was jostled out of my thoughts as Taehyung poked my arm.
“Hey Joon.” he mumbled, his voice embedded with layers of drowsiness. “Did you and Dr. Young find something?”
I nodded and showed him a small vial filled with bluish gray liquid. “It's not the actual cure, but I believe it can be with some more work.”
He smiled and glanced at Jungkook, who was asleep propped against a boulder. Even in the dim firelight, I could see the infection spread to his jaw. “I just really want him to be okay.” he whispered, worry etched onto his features.
“And he will be, don't worry.”
“Okay, and what now?”
I already had the answer. “Dr. Young told me where the other scientists had gone. It's this place north of here, up on the mountains. That's our best bet.”
He examined the phial for a second more, then yawned. “I'm gonna turn in. Wake me whenever you're tired.”
And I was left alone to my thoughts again, staring abysmally into the small fire flickering in front of me.

“Namjoon, get up!”
My eyes snapped open at the yell. I scrambled up and raised my weapon in defense, but there were no zombies pouring into our clearing. Instead—
“Help me hold him down.” tears stained Taehyung's cheeks as he strained against a convulsing Jungkook on the ground. I gasped and ran over, gripping his legs.
And that was when I got a good look at him.
Thick tendrils of the dark substance marred a half of his face, mutating one of the eyes. The skin was scabbed and bleeding and his breathing had stopped, with him almost suffocating. The skin that wasn't gray was slowly turning blue from lack of air. His fingers spasmed around nothing and he was convulsing from head to foot.
“What....happened?” I asked as I strained to remove my belt and tie it around his legs.
“I d-don't know...” Taehyung was positively crying. “I woke up and he was shaking so much and he seemed cold so I was about to drape my jacket over him when I saw the infection...”
I succeeded with the legs and moved up to the torso, noticing how Jungkook's body was calming down.
“...and then his eyes went blank and he f-fell down..” He looked up at me. “Namjoon, he's going to be okay, right? Right?”
I stared back in despair. What was I supposed to say?
But before I could, the convulsions stopped. We hurriedly got off him. “Jungkook?” I said slowly. “You there buddy?”
