Kim Taehyung
When Seokjin yelled out, I knew my hunch had been correct. This was a trap.
Just as I began to run towards him, Namjoon grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and yanked back, so that I stumbled to be concealed behind the building.
"What are you doing!? He's in danger, we have to--"
My sentence cut off as I heard a guttural shriek of pain from the alley. Fear contracted my irises, but ignoring that, I still tried to run towards him, only to be stopped again.
"It's too late." Namjoon's voice was heavy with despair as he grabbed my arm in a vice like grip. And it was true. Already, the screams were dying down, indicating the slow, torturous loss of life. I whipped my head around at the scared expressions of the other two. Why was no one helping him!?
"We have to go. Now, before they see us." Still keeping a firm hold on my forearm, he dragged me away, the others stumbling after us as we made our way far away from the alley.
Reaching a vacated street, I wrestled out of his grip and yelled, "Why did you do that!? We could've still saved him! He was alive--"
"Taehyung, use common sense!" He said. "That zombie-girl thing bit him! Even if we had saved him, he would have gone crazy, just like them! D'you think he would've wanted that?"
"N-no--"
"Exactly! And if we had tried, there were probably more of them down there in that dark alley. They would've chased us and probably eaten us, if we had gone there to help him."
I shook my head, tears staining my cheeks. "This is unfair."
"It is, I know."
Jungkook came up and hugged me from behind, resting his head on my shoulder. "Stop crying, come on." I sniffed, but did as he asked.
“Okay.” Namjoon ran a hand through his hair, and turned away, wiping his eyes with his sleeve. “We need to reach KAIST now, faster than ever, and not stop for anyone.”
“H-how about we take a car?” Hoseok's hands were shaking, probably from the shock.
“We don't have one.”
As impossible as it seemed, I felt a smile tugging at my lips. “We do.”
Namjoon and Hoseok cast questioning glances my way, while Jungkook grinned. Me and him walked over to an abandoned cab parked haphazardly by the side of the road. Without hesitation, he elbowed the glass, so that it shattered.
“What are you--” Namjoon looked outraged as I opened the door and leaning down by the steering wheel, began fiddling with the wires. “Where did you learn how to do that!?”
“How did you think we got anywhere in high school?” The car's engine roared to life and I stood up. “Come on, get in.”
Hoseok grinned bemusedly, while Namjoon looked disappointed. All four of us got in, and we drove off.

It was almost night by the time we reached the tall structure of the research lab. It was huge, a gray granite cubed building, with a stretching lawn in the front, the grass looking orange in the dying rays of the sun as it descended. There was no distinctive wall or anything, rather the architects had let the grass melt into granite, forming the parking area. I parked in one of the slots, and we got out.
“There.” I pointed. “That was the stage, and we sneaked in through...there.”
“Lead the way.” Namjoon gestured and Jungkook took the lead. Hoseok was frantically glancing around, and I couldn't help but feel nervous too. It was all just too silent.
We entered from the door we had gone in before. Inside, it was still silent. The only thing different was that it was a mess. Tables lay upturned, doors hanging off their hinges, bulbs flickering. It was as if someone had been attacked.
“G-guys...I don't like this.” Hoseok backed away. “Yoongi was right. Let's go away.”
“Oh, c'mon Hoseo--”
“Who are you?”
A new voice made all of us jump out of our skins and raise our makeshift weapons defensively. It was a figure. It came out from under the shadows, and I saw; It was a woman.
She looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place my finger as to where--
“Dr. Young?” Namjoon said, awed. “Dr. Young Kim Soo?”
“I'll ask again; who are you?” Her beady eyes x-rayed each of us, out from under her thin spectacles.
“We-- I mean, I'm Kim Namjoon. Don't worry.” He added. “We're not infected.”
“Yes, that's obvious.” She snapped, relaxing her posture. “Why are you here? Why didn't you escape like all the others?”
“We wanted to help. We hoped to get answers from this institute.”
She gritted her teeth as if thinking upon a decision, and then said, “Okay, follow me. I'll explain everything.”

a/n; rather anticlimactic end as compared to the other chapters, eh?
