"You did what!?" I exclaimed. "Jungkook, why!?"

He seemed to be a mixture of nervous and defiant as he retorted. "Well, I had no idea it was gonna be bad, so when me and Taehyung reached the exhibition..."

He took a deep shaky breath. "They were giving out booster shots. I cut the line and I injected m-myself."

All of us stared at him in silence. I was scared. He was infected now! He could turn and attack all of us right now, but somehow, he wasn't doing that.

Taehyung seemed to be thinking somewhere along my line of thoughts, as he uttered, "But you're still...you."

"Yeah, I noticed, thanks." Disgruntled, Jungkook flopped down on the floor, cross legged.

Namjoon shook his shoulder gently. "Well, what matters now is that you're okay, and that you haven't attacked us."

Jungkook shot him a begrudging smile, as if to say, not yet anyway.

"So anyway," Namjoon continued. "We still need to figure out--"

"Wait, hold up." Yoongi spoke up all of a sudden. "Are we just going to ignore that an infected is with us at this moment!?"

"Yoongi, shut up." I hissed. To my despair, he didn't relent.

"I mean, what if he was the reason they found us at the factory!? Maybe he's already going nuts, and calling them to us again??"

All of us looked at Jungkook, who looked alarmed. "No, guys, I swear, I'm okay," He said. "I remember everything that happened, I--"

"How do we know he's speaking the truth?" Yoongi looked almost deranged now, his fear fueling him on. "How do we know he's not--"

"Shut up, Yoongi!" Namjoon lost his cool and yelled. "We're all scared here, that's no reason to point fingers!"

Yoongi threw up his hands in defeat. "Okay. I'm done." He shook his head. "I'm outta here."

Halfway towards the door, he stopped and looked back at us. "If anyone wanna join me, he's welcome."

When none of us moved, he scoffed. "Unbelievable."

The next thing I knew, he walked out, Hoseok calling after him to come back, to stay, telling him that sticking together would be better.

But he didn't listen.

He never listened.

Namjoon kicked a box in frustration and stomped over to the window, lips pursed and staring out, a frown evident upon his features. Knowing I couldn't let anyone else get mad, I walked over to him.

"Hey." I mumbled in a low voice. "It's not your fault. It was his own decision."

He looked sideways at me. "Then why do I blame myself? If he dies, it's all on me, why I didn't stop him."

"It's not like that. Cheer up. We need you cheerful and determined; like you always are." I smiled at him, which he returned.

"Okay. Alright." We turned back to the room, seeing how the three of the others were looking back at us expectantly.

"We need a plan. A proper plan." Namjoon began. "Tonight, we'll sleep here. As soon as tomorrow dawns, we'll take a roundabout path to KAIST. Hopefully, the zombies wouldn't be active that much in the morning."

"But what about..." Hoseok glanced sideways at Jungkook.

Noticing his gaze, I said, "He's perfectly healthy. If he feels something strange, he'll tell us. Won't you Jungkook?"

Jungkook nodded, gaze downcast.

"Good. So, find a place to crash and charge those batteries." I grinned, trying to crack a joke. "You'll need it for some brain bashing tomorrow. Haha, get it? Brain bashing?"

All of them groaned in succession, but at least seemed in a better mood. As soon as I turned away, a frown replaced my smile. I was worried, really worried. Jimin was dead, Yoongi was gone....who knows who was going to be next?

So there all of us were, holding various objects we had found in the hut, staring across the dense smokey morning air at the city sprawled below us.

Usually at this time, there would be cars honking, doors slamming and people going on about their businesses, but right now...

...everyone seemed asleep, in utter silence.

Ignoring my rapidly thudding heart, I gripped the piece of wood in my hands tighter, glanced once around me, and descended the hilly stretch we had been standing on, Namjoon and the others behind me.

We jumped over the road barriers and sprinting across the strangely empty highway, made our way towards what looked to be an abandoned building. Crouching in it's shade, I glanced around again.

“Okay.” I breathed a sigh of relief. “We should be able to reach KAIST by afternoon, considering it stays this silent or,” I smiled grimly. “we don't get eaten. Come on.”

As I made to leave my position, I heard Taehyung murmur jokingly to Jungkook, “Is he foreshadowing or something?”

Jungkook laughed. “Stop.”

I shook my head in disbelief and continued, trying to pad silently. But there was no use of that, it seemed.  The roads were silent, peaceful. I would have felt content, had it not been for yesterday.

Just when it seemed as if the city had truly been abandoned, I heard something.

Someone was crying.

I glanced alarmingly at Namjoon, who reflected back my emotions. “It sounds like a child.” He said, to which I nodded. “We have to help.”

Making our way towards the faint noise, we reached a junction between two towering buildings. It was a dark alley, at the end of which I could just make out a huddled figure, her hair long and body shivering.

“Hey.” I said gingerly, timidly moving forward. “Don't be afraid. We won't hurt you.”

“Seokjin wait, something seems strange--”

“Hoseok, stay back, I'll take care of this.” Determined, I moved in further, extending a hand out towards the shivering girl. “Hey.” I smiled. “You're gonna be okay...”

And then I screamed when I saw her face.
