River's POV::

We meet with my parents outside the church, my head fixed on what happened in there. "You come to church often?" My dad asks Vito.
"No, I'm atheist," he replies. My eyes widen at his reply. My parents gasp in disapprove. In their eyes, everyone must have the same beliefs. "If you'd excuse us, we have to get going."
"Both of you?" My mom asks, grabbing my hand. I wrap my free hand around his muscular arm.
"Yeah. I'll call later," I say, following him back to the car. He smiles over at me. "I feel sick."
"Why?" He asks.
"I don't know, maybe cause you did that to me in a freaking church. In the eyes of God," I snap. He chuckles, putting his sunglasses on.
"There is no god, baby girl."

I look at myself in the mirror. I'm not used to showing more skin than my shoulders, not almost my whole leg and cleavage. A soft knock on the door makes me jump.
"I've never seem someone more beautiful," Vito says as he leans against the door frame in a tux with Lulu in his arms. He sets her down and walks to his closet, taking out his leather jacket. Walking to be me, he puts it on over my shoulders. He tilts my head up and bends down. "You ready for this?" He asks. I nod.
"Yeah." He pecks my lips before walking out with my hand in his.

The girl Fin brought with him is absolutely stunning; straight out of a disney princess movie pretty. Her cream white dress fits bed body perfect as she sways back and forth with Fin.
"Are they together?" I ask. Vito glances over at him.
"Yeah, two years tomorrow. He's just a flirt by personality," he answers. "You don't have to wear the jacket if you don't want to. I know its hot in here."
"No, it's fine. I don't feel comfortable without it," I tell him. My eyes grow heavy as we dance to the soft violence music. It's almost hard to remember that this is for job. He has to be here. A man walks over to is and taps on Vito's shoulder.
"Is this one yours?" The Hispanic man asks. He nods, holding me somehow closer. "Do you mind me asking your name? You just look so familiar to me." I immediately tense.
"Samantha, Samantha Philips. I prefer Sammi though," I lie, offering my hand. He looks at my eyes, shaking my hand.
"I'm sorry I interrupted! I thought you were someone else. Have a great rest of your night," he says and walks back to a crowd of four men with the same build and look as him.
I look up at Vito the same time he looks down at me with an impressed grin. "Your a natural. Not sure if it's a worry or a turn on." Fin comes over and gestures to the stairs. "If anything happens, run. Okay?" I nod. He kisses my forehead before following Fin to the long, fancy staircase.
"I know the feeling," the girl says, her voice smooth.
"Excuse me?" I ask politely.
"The feeling of wanting them to stay instead of going on a suicide mission. Not knowing what their really doing. How dangerous it is," she says. I look down, sighing. "I'm Willow, Fin's girl. I've heard a lot of good things about you, River."
"Thank you. I didn't know Fin was in such a committed relationship," I say. She smiles brightly.
"Yeah, it's hard to tell with him cause of his personality. He's a really sweet, kind guy, but is a natural flirt. I fell for both sides. Now I'm just waiting for him to pop that special question," she says. She seems much older than she looks by the way she speaks and holds herself.
Buff men take yo running up the stairs as fast as they can just as loud bang a go off. Gun shots. Listening to what Vito had said Willow and I run to the door. A loud bang goes off before a hot, surging pain shoots from my back. Both Willow and I fall to the ground.
"Hermosa," a deep voice says. I force my eyes open to see the man from not long ago. "I'm so sorry." He looks around before picking up and rushing me out of the house. "I got you my flower. Always." After he says that I loose consciousness.

Flashback Four years old:

I cling onto my father, staring at the tattoos on his shoulders. "I don't want you to leave, papa." He bends down and sets me on the bed. I look around.
"I have to, it'll be safer for you. I'm not a good man, but my brother and his wife are good people. You should call them mom and dad for now on, Flower."
"But Papa-"
"I got you my flower. Always."
