"Luke?" Stunned, I took a step forward. He looked at me with wide eyes, shoving his phone in to his back pocket. Running his fingers through his hair quickly, he took a step towards me, then took a step back.
"Wh-what are you doing here?"
I stuttered, looking from Ashton to Luke. "I, uh, Ashton invited me-"
"How do you know Ashton?" He interupted, shooting Ashton a confused look.
Ashton came to the rescue. "Mate, how do you know Laraine?"
"How do I know Laraine? Ash, she's the girl I went on that date with."
"The one you never stopped talking about?" Michael interjected, earning glares from the both of them. He shrugged thier looks off and preceeded to sit down on the couch. Calum, who had been preocupied until now, stopped sweeping, noticing the tension in the air.
"I thought you said you couldn't come?" Questioned Luke.
"I-" I started. I was so confused. I don't think it was possible for me to feel more confused. Ashton asked me to come over to his place; I said yes. Then Luke asked, and I had to tell him I was busy...but now he's here?
Then it clicked.
"Well this is a doozy." Ashton stated, attempting to lighten the mood. I awkwardly chuckled, then asked,
"So...you guys are roommates?"
"Yep." Ashton answered, scratching the back of his neck. Luke bit his lip, looking right at me. Again, I felt like I was talking to a stranger.
I turned to Ashton. "OH! So that's the Luke that you told me about?" I asked, pointing to Luke. He nodded.
"And Luke? This is the girl you went on that date with?" Luke nodded, eyebrows drawn together.
"Wait, and Laraine, you're the girl Ashton told me about? That he gave a ride to a few weeks ago?"
"Yeah..." I answered. It was beginning to clear up.
"So we all know each other...somehow?" Ashton inquired, causing me to laugh. It was all just too confusing. I began laughing uncontrollably, earning weird glances from the boys. Suddenly, Ashton let out a giggle, and was soon gasping for breath. Thankfully, Luke let out a chuckle, making me relax. This was all just too confusing.
Soon we were all laughing uncontrollably at the awkwardness and confusion of the situation. Well, everybody except for Calum, who stood holding the broom, a look of utter confusion written on his face. Containing my giggles, I leaned forward, hand extended.
"I'm Laraine." We shook hands. "Nice to meet you."
"Oh! Luke's Laraine?" He asked, recognition in his voice. I blushed uncontrollably. Had he really talked about me that much? Behind me, Luke's face turned red and he fiddled with his lip ring.
"Well, who's ready for pizza?!" Michael asked, sitting up from the couch. I was so glad to put the confusion behind us. Everyone agreed it was time for some pizza, so I stayed behind to follow them over to a dining room area. Their apartment wasn't huge, in fact, it was quite small, but very nice, and noticeably clean-which surprised me, considering it was housing four teenage boys.
The dining area was small, just a circular table with four chairs around it. Ashton pulled another chair from the kitchen table and placed it under the table. Luke grabbed three pizza boxes from the kitchen counter and set them in the middle of the table.
"Dig in!" Calum exclaimed. Before I even blinked, Michael had four pieces on his plate.
"What?!" He noticed my gaping. "A mans gotta eat!" He bellowed.
