The rest of that night had seemed to happen so fast, the time running away from us, unable to be grasped. He had walked me home in the rain, me loving every second of it, and him, fighting the urge to run and find cover. When we did arrive at my house, soaked and cold, there was this moment when time stopped. We were at my door, me looking up at him, one hand on the doorknob, the other nervously fiddling with my dress. 'Was he going to kiss me?' I wondered.

We had just looked at each other, and for a moment, I actually thought he was. But all at once, the fleeting moment was gone.

"Bye Laraine." He bid with a smile, already stepping back out in to the rain again.

"Good bye, Luke!" I yelled to him from my doorstep. He turned and gave me a a shy nod, smiled, then began jogging lightly down the road. I immediately regretted letting him leave; how stupid was I? I could've given him a ride.

But he was already far down the road. I sighed to myself, then opened the door. I slept so good that night. I felt so calm and peaceful. I didn't dream, though. I remember, before I fell asleep, thinking I would probably dream of him that night. But I didn't. Instead, it was an easy, dreamless night.

"Laraine."

Rolling over, I brought the pillow over my head.

"Laraine." I heard again. I attempted to block the voice out once again, but Aubree wouldn't have that. Of course not.

Feeling hands on my sides, I grabbed for the sheets, but it was too late, and suddenly, I was looking up at Aubree from my floor. Her hair was curled, her eyes painted perfectly, and she was fully dressed. I looked at my clock.

It was 7:30.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned, standing up dazed. "Actually, what are you doing up?"

She sat down at the edge of my bed, and waited for me to do the same.

"So..." She started. "How did your date go last night?"

My eyes widened. "That's why your here? That's why you interuppted my slumber?"

Laughing, she said, "Calm yourself." I raised an eyebrow.

"Okay sorry." She said. "But I have to work today, and I am NOT waiting until 6:15 tonight when I get off, to hear about your night." I rolled my eyes.

"Oh my God, Aubree..."

"So I just decided to come by here first. Ya know. Get the details before I head out."

She struggled to know everything like it was her job. Groaning, I laid back on the bed, letting the warm morning light envelope me. I felt the bed dip beside me, and I turned to see my best friend's grey eyes staring back at me.

"Well?"

Then I told her everything. Leaving out absolutely nothing. She left that morning promising to have a day just for the two of us tomorrow, a time to catch up on each other. Catch up on what, I didn't know. She's already completely up to date on my love life.

After she left, I tumbled back in to bed and stayed there until 12:13.

Finally getting up, I straitened my hair, got dressed, and decided against staying in bed all day. I was going to go out. The humid air hit me like a brick as I stepped outside. I instantly regretted straitening my hair as it would just curl and frizz.

I took an agonizingly warm walk to town, telling myself to get over the heat. I would be rewarded with a nice, cold smoothie from Anna's Cafe once I arrived. The sound of a bell dinged as I entered and took a seat in a booth towards the back, right in front of a big window overlooking the busy street.
