"This movie's so good. Oh my god, Jack Nicholson is so talented." Michael chattered on to no one in particular. We were watching 'the Shining', and old 80's horror film- which just happened to be one of my favorites.

"Those twins are so god-damn creepy. Oh my god...Calum! What would you do if you saw those two standing at the end of the hall?" He asked, half joking, half curious.

Calum slowly peaked his head out from the cream-knitted blanket and stole a glance at the screen.

"Uh, I don't know." He answered quietly. I giggled at his childishness as he squirmed in his seat while the main character proceeded to attack his wife with a baseball bat. The movie wasn't even that scary...

"Guys, I don't like this movie." Ashton stated from beside me. His tone sounded bored and uninterested as his eyes took turns watching the film and checking his phone.

"Me either." Agreed Calum, whose voice sounded muffled coming from underneath the blanket.

"Oh come on guys! This is my favorite movie." I pleaded. Ashton sighed and set his phone down, giving the film his full attention. We were at opposite ends of the couch, one long blanket spread to cover the both of us. Directly in front of the TV sat Michael in his recliner, reclined all the way back and watching the movie from an odd angle. Across from our couch, curled up on the love-seat, was Calum, who had been catching glances of the film through the cracks in his fingers and the holes in his blanket.

As the music quickened, so did his breathing-which I could hear from where I sat across the room. We sat there silently and watched the movie, the only words being spoken were from Michael, occasionally throwing in an observation or praising the film. After about forty minutes in, I heard a door creak open at the end of the hall, causing an already on edge Calum to jump. Soft footsteps made their way towards us.

"Well hello, sleeping beauty." Sang Ashton, who had momentarily paused the film. "It's about time you woke up."

Luke walked slowly in to the room, taking in the scene before him. His eyes locked with mine as Ashton spoke.

"Laraine got here about an hour ago. We're watching 'the shining', take a seat." The blonde boy rubbed his eyes sleepily as he let out a soft yawn. Walking in my direction, his eyes never left mine. I lifted the blanket, allowing Luke to sit down in the space between Ashton and I. His bare arm rubbed against mine and I noticed he was clammy and cold; goosebumps littering his pale skin. He wordlessly shifted on the cushion, getting comfortable and I shifted with him.

Ashton pressed play and the movie began, Calum returning to the safety of his blanket. Adjusted, Luke relaxed and pulled the blanket up higher. He still hasn't spoken a word to me; or anybody for that matter. Running fingers through his bed-head, he sighed and I saw the sleepiness in his eyes. He looked tired. Exhaustion riddled his features, which I guessed were from the lack of sleep. I watched him closely as I remembered Ashton telling me that he had nightmares too.

"Hey." I whispered quietly, softly nudging his arm with my shoulder. His head turned and he smiled the biggest smile he could muster- which wasn't very big, I might add.

"Hey." He answered back, equally soft. I hadn't really needed to say anything to him, I just wanted to hear his voice. Hear him speak to me. His crystal eyes melted in to mine, and for a second, neither of us spoke. The soft light from the TV shadowed his features and he looked beautiful. He really did. Hair unquiffed, eyes quiet and tired, a sleepy smile on his lips, he looked like an angel.

For a moment, I'm taken aback by my thoughts. I had just compared him to an angel... How long could I continue to compliment him in my head and have romantic thoughts of this boy who I wasn't even sure liked me? Well, I had thought he did... He's just so confusing. I'm reminded of the movie theatre, before actually going in to the movie- we had held hands. The usually awkward, quiet Luke had transformed in to a confidant, self-assured man that had me fumbling with my words.

The sounds of the movie faded to the back of my mind as he leaned in slowly. So slowly, I wasn't sure what to do. Was he about to kiss me? The blanket shifted under his movement as his mouth neared me, his lip ring shimmering in the light from the screen. His eyes, I noticed, looked like tiny diamonds scattered across the floor, so much detail in such a small thing. I found my breath quickening, though it wasn't from the movie.

His warm breath tickled my ear and I heard the words, "can I talk to you in private?" I exhaled slowly, not sure if I was upset or relieved at the absence of his lips on mine.
