Chapter 3 - The Wait / The Decision

It was an hour before I heard a knock on my door. I opened the door to find not mother, father, or Manaphy, but Popplio, my best friend.

"Popplio!" I said, happily hugging the sea lion Pokémon.

"Topaz!" he said, returning the hug, "but what are you doing in your room so late in the day?"

"Well..." I said, "I had to look at suitors today and I didn't pick any of them so mother and father are picking one for me."

"WHAT!?" Popplio yelled, "it can't be true!"

"It is true Popplio," I said, "tomorrow I'm getting married to a guy I don't even know!"

"Do you want me to keep you company until they make the decision?" he asked.

"Yeah," I reply, "I'd like that." Time seems to go by faster whenever I'm with Popplio. All the tricks he can do with his bubbles are quite remarkable. But soon it was over. We heard a knocking on my door. I swam over and opened it. It was Manaphy.

"Princess Topaz, come to the throne room, the king and queen have made their decision," he ordered. I swam to the throne room with dread.

'Which horrible merman have they chosen to be my husband?' I thought.

"Topaz," father said sternly, "Prince Zane is going to be your fiancé."

'Zane. Now where have I heard that name before?' I thought. It was suitor number three!

'I knew I recognized him from somewhere! He just looks so different all grown up. It's the bully from elementary school!?' I thought. He swam right up to me and kissed me. 'I have to put on a show for my parents,' I thought. So I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him for a very long time.

"Let's go out to the balcony," he whispered in my ear. We swam out onto the balcony together and the whole kingdom looked at us. Zane pulled out a little box and opened it. Inside was the most beautiful ring I ever saw.

"Princess Topaz," he said, "will you marry me?" I stared deep into his red eyes.

I had no choice but to say, "Yes." The kingdom cheered as he put the ring on my finger.

'Keep up the show,' I thought. I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same. We kissed out on that balcony for over an hour. As we kissed our tails wrapped together. We swam to my room and he locked the door.

"What are we going to do now?" I asked as he pushed me onto my bed.

"We're going to make sweet love all evening," he said seductively.

Zane's POV

'Everything is going as planned,' I thought, 'we got engaged and right now I'm going to get her pregnant. We'll get married tomorrow and then we'll leave for our honeymoon immediately where I'll make her take a pregnancy test. Then she'll be mine forever and this kingdom will be all mine!'
