Sjin's P.O.V
------------------------------
I was practically running as soon as I hit the pavement outside my house. I wanted to get Alice into the office by eight at the most and she had e-mailed me and asked if I wanted coffee, and this was my new friend, of course I said yes. I wanted to see her again and surprise everyone, look at her art and get to know more about her. I was not going to be late today.
My mini me laughed inside my head and I rolled my eyes, I had to stop running as a sharp stitch fourmed in my side. I puffed and panted for about five minutes before I looked at the building I was stood next to. It was an apartment building, obviously student rates as the building was grotty but I steeled my nerves and opened the door.
Surprisingly it was cold inside the lobby, I pulled a scrap piece of paper from my pocket and looked at the number scrawled onto it. Flat number four. I looked at the stairs and sighed, more exercise for the morning. I grabbed onto the banister and slowly made my way up. The flat was on the second floor since each floor only possesed two flats inside. I knocked on the door to flat four and waited. A muffled voice shouting from behind the door, the sound of a laptop being shut and the quiet sound of foot steps.
The door was promptly opened and I turned red at what I saw. Alice still had her pj's on, blue with white foxes, she had bare feet and her hair looked like it needed a damn good brushing. I was blushing like a tomatoe when she waved me inside, she was fairly red herself. The flat was warm compared to the rest of the building, I realised in delight. Several sketch books lay askew across the kitchen tabletop and several were piled precariously on a small bookshelf. She had several stacks of books on the tabletop and also a closed laptop. She walked round the work top and turned on the tap, filling the kettle. She placed it on the stand and flicked the switch. Hunting through the cuboards she found a packet of biscuits (custard creams) and placed them on the table top. I took a seat across from the laptop and kept my eyes averted from Alice until I heard the soft click of a door closing and the sound of running water.
The apartment wasn't big or grand but it was very cluttered, books and paper was strewn everywhere. They had been shoved into corners and forgotten, God knows how long it had been since Alice had read them. A framed certificate was hung on the wall to the left of the work top, a A-Level in Chemistry, another in Phycology and a third A-Level in Art. I smiled for the first time that morning and cast my gaze towards the clock on the wall, it was nearly seven and we could sit and chat for about ten minutes. I heard water being poured and I found a hot mug of tea in my hands, Alice sat infront of me, her ender-beanie firmly on her head, hair brushed and covering her right eye again, black hoodie and jeans with the matching trainers. Oh and the purple laces. I laughed and she smiled at me. A real warm smile, I smiled back and sipped the tea. I wasn't normally a tea person but this rivaled Lewis' tea making skills.
Better not tell him that. My voice sniggered and I agreed, I wasn't gonig to tell Lewis that piece of information. I grabbed a couple of biscuits and nibbled them, I was lost in thought again when I heard giggling. I looked up, mid-nibble on a custard cream and I saw Alice looking red, she looked at me and my raised eyebrow. She covered her mouth with her hands and before I knew it she had her phone out and had obviously taken a picture because she finally laughed. It was loud and hard, she fell off her chair laughing and clutched her sides. I maintened my questioning expression. I looked at the clock again and noticed the time.
"We'd better be going if we're going to be there on time." I chuckled, she jumped up and grabbed a satchel, stuffing pencil cases, her laptop and several sketch pads into the bag. I admired her for calming herself as I was now the one with the stupid grin on my face. I ran head and opened the door for her, she rolled her eyes at me but we both laughed. We talked as we walked and both agreed that January should be warmer but it wasn't. We talked about every thing and nothing until I haulted infront of YogTowers, I looked at her and frowned.
She looked nervous, her eyes wide at the building and she was breathing quite fast. I placed a friendly hand on her shoulder.
"Are you OK?" I asked, afriad to say anything more incase she went crazy. She nodded.
"I'm nervous," She whispered. "what if they don't like me Sjin o-o-or they think I-I-I'm a freak o-o-or..."
"You can stop thinking that right now," I snapped. "these are the loveliest people I know, I mean they don't judge people by their covers they judge it by the person inside."
She looked scared still and I sighed, I gripped her hand in a reasuring way and was surprised when she squeezed my hand back. Offical friends I would say. I looked up at her and smiled, my beard bushing up as I did so. She giggled at my beard but still looked a little scared.
"You'll see, they're nice people." I whispered. "Come on, let's get out of this dratted wind."
She nodded and took a shaky breath in, she closed her eyes and pushed on the door handle gently, the door swung open and we stepped inside the warmth of the building....
