As soon as we arrived at my new house that was just right next to Luke's, I saw Sara and Ben were talking in the driveway next to his car while Oliver and Diane just sat on the steps at the portico, having a nice conversation. So, I parked my car by the side of the road in front of the house. Luke looked at both of my foster parents from the passenger seat. Ben seemed to have steams coming out of his ears and Sara was just so nonchalant as she handled her husband.
"Your dad doesn't seem to like his new home," Luke said.
"Just as I expected," I rolled my eyes at the view of Ben pointing at Luke's house as he spoke to Sara angrily. But Sara just cupped his face in her hands and talked some sense into him to calm him down.
I'd already expected that he wouldn't like this neighbourhood because Luke was living around here and that he'd be very worried that I would be completely influenced by Luke's bad behaviours since he'd already believed that Tyler and Max were not good friends for me.
I turned off the ignition before we both alighted from my car and sauntered toward Ben and Sara, holding each other's hands with our fingers intertwined. Both of my foster parents' attentions shifted toward us as I greeted them and Oliver promptly rose to his feet when he saw me suddenly appeared with Luke beside me.
"Why are you guys wet?" Ben looked sullenly at us, especially at the guy I was with. "And who fucking allows you to be with my daughter—"
"Honey, what did I tell you about this?" Sara calmly said to her husband as she wrapped her hands around his bicep.
My foster dad just inhaled the air angrily with his eyes closed for a second before he threateningly said to me, "We'll talk about this later."
Then, he turned around and stormed into the house. Oliver and Diane came after him, probably to calm his anger down. I knew it from the beginning that he would totally be pissed off if he ever found out that me and Luke were dating. But I was willing to take the risk to have my ears deafened by his long and vociferous lecture that would be filled with fury.
Sara grinned at me and I could see it in her face that she was currently holding the urge to squeal since she'd been waiting for this moment to happen.
"Please excuse my husband. He's in the mood right now," she still had her grin stuck on her face as she extended out her hand to Luke for a handshake and introduced herself. "I'm Sara. Lennox's foster mommy."
Luke shook her hand, "Lucas Donovan. Lennox's—"
"Boyfriend," Sara continued for him cheerfully, yet maturely. "I know that. You guys are holding hands. Which is sooo cute."
"Can we get inside right now? We're kinda cold," I told her.
"Well, of course—"
"Umm, I think I should head home now," Luke refused politely. "I don't wanna ruin your family time."
"Oh, no. You're not going to ruin anything," Sara giggled. "You're like a family already. You're Lennox's boyfriend."
"Thank you so much for your kindness," he smiled genuinely at her. "But I really should head home."
"Well...," my foster mom trailed off as she saw me shaking my head discreetly, telling her to not force him and just let him go home. "...if you insist. But you're always welcomed to our house."
Luke thanked her then planted a short kiss on my forehead. He whispered to my ear, "Good luck with your dad."
I rolled my eyes at him. He knew that I was going to be in trouble and he was, technically, bailing on me. I watched him walking away from me, disappearing as he went into his house. Somehow, I missed him already despite he only lived next door and that we just spent so many hours together at the beach.
