December

Alice's Point of View

I walked over to the table in the cafeteria we had been sitting at lately.  It was freezing in England this time of year and we only went outside when we had to.  The heating in the old fashioned school wasn't great either so  I pulled my sweater sleeves over my hands and rubbed my arms trying to stay warm.  The boys were having casual conversation about nothing really when I walked over and sat between Harry and Zayn.

"Hey, babe."  Harry said with a mouthful of food as I sat down.

"Hello darling,"  I replied resting my tired head on his shoulder.  He put his arm around me and pulled me in closer to him.  It's not like there was anything going on between Harry and I, but we had a special friendship.  It was kind of like we just looked after each other.  I honestly felt like he would do anything for me and I would do the same for him.

"So, Alice, are you going on Friday?"  Liam asked from across the table.

"What's Friday?"  I sat up, confused.

"Guys Alice is socially disabled, remember?  She probably doesn't even know what a dance is."  Harry joked.  I hit him on the chest and turned back to the rest of the boys.

"I know what a dance is, I'm from America, not Mars."  I defended.

"It's questionable,"  Niall joked.

"Wait so there's a dance Friday?"  I asked.

"Yeah it's like the winter formal.  It's the first Friday in december every year."  Zayn informed me.

"Well are you guys going?"

"If I get a date,"  Zayn laughed.

"You should ask that brunette girl, the pretty one with brown eyes, what's her name, Jess?"  I sounded like a typical school girl, but I didn't care.

"I was thinking the same thing,"  Zayn said nudging my side.

"What about you, Harry, are you gonna ask a girl?"

"I have someone in mind."  He winked.

"Who is it?  Do I know her?"  I asked excited.  Harry talked to a lot of girls and told me about them. He liked to talk to me about girls because I could give him advice that the boys couldn't, but his flings never turned into anything serious.

"I don't think so, her name's Britney."  He said and I shrugged, I didn't know a Britney.

"So does this mean you're going, Alice?"  Niall asked, Lily now sitting down by his side.

"Well, I don't know, I mean I don't have a date either."  I shrugged.  Clearly everyone going had a date and I would not be showing up solo.

"Oh come on Alice, don't act like every guy in school isn't dying to go with you."  Lily said.

"Well nobody's asked me."  I said confused.  If so many guys wanted to go with me, which I doubted, someone would've asked me by now.

"Why don't you go with me?  I don't have a date."  Louis said casually, shrugging.

"I guess that doesn't sound horrible,"  I joked and smiled at him, "sure."

"Aww, how cute you two are going on a little date."  Harry said in a baby voice, pinching my cheeks.

"Have you always been this annoying?"  I joked pushing his hands away.

"Yay!  We can go dress shopping and get ready together and everything!  Dani too!"  Lily practically squealed making us all laugh at her expense.  After that the bell rang, signaling it was time for us to go to our next class.
