We had school off the next few weeks because of Christmas break.  I spent most of my time with Louis, or we hung out with everyone, or I went to get coffee or go shopping with Danielle and Lily.  We liked to spend time alone so we could talk about the boys.  It was a few days before Christmas now and literally everyone went away to visit family.  I decided to go get coffee with Daniel since he had the next few days off and I had nothing better to do.  I didn't mind though, we were really close and we didn't get to spend as much time together as I would've liked.

"So Jay told me she met you at the hospital."  He said, sipping his coffee.  That's when I realized I had forgotten to tell Daniel Louis and I were dating now.  "When were you planning on telling me Louis was your boyfriend."  He laughed, slightly mocking my relationship.

"I guess it just slipped my mind."  I laughed as well.  I knew Daniel wouldn't take mine and Louis's relationship very seriously because we were only in high school.

"To be honest I'm kind of happy about it."  He said, catching me off guard.  He had always been really protective so I was expecting some kind of speech about how I wasn't old enough for this.  "I can't stop you from dating and I think Louis's a good kid.  Much better than that last boyfriend of yours."  He said in a hushed tone.

"You're right he is better than Ryan."  I said, seriously.  "Ryan is out of the picture now, so we don't have to talk about him.  Ever."

"Are you sure?  Sometimes you need to talk about these things."  He said, his face was serious, but his eyes were sympathetic.

"I'm sure.  That part of my life is over.  Talking about it will only bring it back."  I said, sounding a little too cold, but it was the only way I could get Daniel to drop this.  There was a long silence between us and I knew he was trying to change the subject.

"I hope you don't mind we're not doing anything special for Christmas."  He said.  Of corse I didn't mind.  I haven't celebrated a holiday or gotten a Christmas present since I was ten.  Doing anything would be special to me.

"Of corse I don't mind."  I smiled at him.

I woke up on Christmas morning and rubbed my eyes.  I almost expected to feel different, but I really didn't.  It was just another morning.  I threw on a sweatshirt, put my hair in a pony tail, and went downstairs.  Daniel was already sitting on the couch drinking coffee.

"Morning."  I yawned.

"Merry Christmas."  He said, he wasn't particularly excited either.

"Thanks, you too."  I said, pouring myself a cup of coffee.

"Do you want your present now or later?"  He asked casually.

"I thought we decided we weren't getting each other presents."  I said, feeling guilty.

"Well I got you one anyway, so suck it up and open it."  He laughed, getting up and retrieving a present out of the coat closet.  We didn't have a tree or anything so he just handed it to me.  It was a little white box with a gold bow.

"You really didn't have to do this."  I said, as I untied the bow.

"I wanted to."  He shrugged.  I opened the box and there was a beautiful pair of diamond studs in it.

"Dan, these are beautiful."  I gasped.  "Thank you so much!"  I said, hugging him as he laughed.

"Really, don't mention it."  He chuckled.

"So when does Louis come back?"  Dan asked as we ate dinner.

"Tomorrow."  I answered him, cheerfully.  It was slightly pathetic how much I missed Louis.  He had only been gone a little over a week, but all I wanted was to see him.
