Chapter 3

Laura (mom): POV

"Rick come down stairs we are going to be late" I said.

"Hold on I have to look presentable don't i" rick yelled from the bathroom.

"Michael you better hurry up" I said.

"I can't go my Bae needs me" Michael said from his room.

Bae? What's Bae. Ugh kids.

I see rick run down the stairs and grabs the key while putting on his jacket.

We both walk toward the car and we start driving to the hospital.

"Did you bring the papers Laura" rick said.

"Yes" I said.

"I just don't understand how they won't let him see his family it's not right" I said.

"You know why Laura and we can't talk about it in front of him" rick said angrily.

" It says in the paper that it will just make him go in a state of mind where he can't control himself that he will go insane from voices coming inside of him" I read.

" Wow see Laura he's already in a bad shape don't make it worse" rick says.

I give out a sigh and the rest of the car ride was silent.

We pull up to the hospital and park our car.

The building was big and was very empty with only a few pieces of furniture.

Rick starts walking toward the front desk and hands a lady the papers.

I sit on a chair and wait.

I pull up my phone and text Michael.

"Honey I'm really ashamed that you didn't come".

I got a reply almost instant.

"Mom it's not my fault I'm sorry love you bye".

Rick walks back to me.

"He'll be out shortly" he says

15 minutes goes by and he walks out.

I sprint up and watch him come by.

Than I I give him a hug and so does rick.

It felt a little awkward but he needed to know he was loved.

I than say " hey honey how are you doing, don't worry if you nee anything I'm here for you".

Rick than says "need help with your bags".

He turns his head and we start to head toward the car.

I sit in the passenger seat and look at Charlie. He's so adorable and innocent.

" I'm sorry I'm rick baker" rick said.

" And I'm Laura baker" said.

There was a little bit of silence.

"I am so glad your here with us I honestly just wanna be great friends and a mother figure to you, but we need to get you clothes and lots of other things" I finally say.

He gives me a odd look. Like he was happy scared. I was gonna make him feel good about himself. I know I am.

"Leave the poor boy alone let him get settled, Charlie do you like it when people call your name like that or a nick name"? Rick said

"I like to be called Charlie and thanks mrs. Baker" Charlie says.

" Don't call me mrs baker Charlie just say Laura okay?" I say
