I was the first to open the door and peek out into the empty hallway. My eyes darted round the entire space to hark if there were more sounds. Erik, putting his shirt on, followed behind me and gently shuffled out.
I hastened to shut the door to tail Erik but he waved his hand to stop me from doing so. He whispered something to me but it was just inaudible hokum for me.
When he stopped, he grabbed my hand and we quickly walked fast to the balcony to peep downstairs. A dreadful silence accompanied us from below. Nothing again but the sound of the ticking of the grandfather clock in the lobby.
We started to become impatient when nothing was happening. I imputed a notion that someone or something had broken into the house which I had told Erik.
"Are you sure its not uncle Logan and the others?" I inquired.Erik shook his head. "They said they would come back by seven and its still five."
Melodious music started to play. We recognised it as Drive by The Cars, coincidently, Raven's favourite song. Erik then stooped low and walked down the stairs with me tailing behind.
Once we reached the opening to the kitchen, Erik pushed me aside as he leaned in to peek. He insinuated that I go and sneak outside to get help.
I nodded and proceeded to the door with caution. Just as I was about to turn the knob, there was something wet and warm under my bare feet. To my horror, it was a pool of blood that matched the carpet.
Unbeknownst to Erik, I covered my mouth from squealing. I could see a trail coming from the foot of the door going to the kitchen.
Just as I was about to warn Erik, a figure came charging to Erik from the kitchen and jabbed a bloody knife into his arm. I watched as Erik screamed in agony when he stumbled onto the pile of books that sat behind him.
"Charles, run!" He screamed.
I took one more glance at the intruder and to my horror, it was Raven. Her entire dress was soaked in blood as well as her face and hair. She laughed maniacally when she saw me. I froze and held on to the knob behind my back.
"You... you fucking traitor!" She pointed.
With that, I ran out of the door without looking back. But I almost stopped in my tracks when I saw my parent sitting inside the station wagon with their throats slit.
My stomach flipped when I saw their horrified faces frozen in death.
"Oh my God!" I screamed. Raven then appeared at the doorway waving her knife. "Yoohoo dear Charles! You might wanna watch out."
I took a step back and turned around to only be greeted by no other than my former boss Sebastian Shaw standing there in a suit. He smiled demonically as he used to.
"Tsk tsk tsk, leaving so early Charles? Why don't you entertain your guests first."
Then something hard hit the back of my head and I blacked out.
