As I make my way into the house, I greeted my mom and siblings who were all playing a game of Jenga.

"Hey mom, where do you want the bread." I asked, Mom looking up, realizing I was home.

"Oh hey, sweety. Just set it on the counter. Hayden is upstairs waiting for you." My heart jumped at the thought of my best friend. I hadn't seen him today because he was obiligated to spend time with his family who was visiting from North Carolina.

"EMMY WE MISSED YOU!" Screamed the twins in unison. They were identical twin girls. Both were 4 years old, weird considering I was 16. Although one was a minute older, they never argued over who was older. In a way, they both stepped up when the other needed them. At four years old, it was pretty impressive. The older one by a minute, Nina, grabbed the younger one, Sophia by the arm as they swarmed me in a hug. I hugged them back and let them both kiss my cheek as I waved and began up the stairs.

Immediately after walking in my room, I could smell Hayden. I smiled when I found him lying on my bed, arms sprawled out and his body in the shape of a star. I ran over to the bed and jumped up to him, straddling him and letting my hair hang on his sleeping baby face.

"Wake up, sleeping beauty," I said as I grabbed the glass of water from my bedside table that I left last night and started to tilt it over his head. I gently poured small amounts until he started to stir.

"What the-" he opened his eyes slowly. "EM NO!" he yelled quicky, trying to grab the glass from my hand and causing my to completely spill all of the remaining water on his face, soaking him, and the pillow underneath him.

Look of pure hatred and irritation crossed his face and I tried not to laugh but as soon as I noticed how soaked his face was, I couldn't hold it in. I screamed as I tried to jump off of him and run away but I was immediatly caught by the waist and pulled towards his water drenched shirt.

"I am going to have to kill you. You know that right?" He stated, looking at me with an angry expression.

"Do it. But good luck finding a friend that will put up with your annoying....ness." I stated cockily.

"Annoyingness? Em, not a word." He grabbed my wrists, preventing me from moving my hands and arms.

"STOP!" I yelled, giggling again. "Why are you here, Hayd?" I asked, making a not-so-serious serious face.

"I missed you today. Everyone needs to see their annoying best friend at least once a day. I mean, surely you saw Alana today." He grinned.

"Alana is not annoying." I stated, pushing him. Hayden stumbled goofily but caught his foot on the side of the bed, and of course he pulled my arm so I would go down with him.

"AHHH! HAYD! Ouch. My butt is gonna be bruised now." I laughed. It was then that I realized how close our faces where. I also realized how handsome my long term best friend was. He looked at me with his familiar green eyes. My breathing quickened as he reached his hand up slowly and moved my messy brown hair out of my face. He leaned in even closer.

Oh my god. Is he going to kiss me!? Do I want him to kiss me? I internally screamed. And thats when it happened. Hayden cleared his throat and lifted his head away from mine. Leaving me hanging. I looked down and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans, super embarrassed, and looked back up at Hayden, who was sitting awkwardly in front of me, looking at my bookshelf so he didn't have to look at me, I assume.

"I uh.. I have to use the- I need to go to the bathroom." I awkwardly stood up and walked out of my room, across the hall, to the bathroom. I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror. Did I have feelings for my best guy friend. I turned the cold water on and splashed some on my face and realized I smudged my mascara. I decided to fix it, even though I would be going to sleep soon. Then I looked at myself again, pulling my wavy hair into a high ponytail.

Did I like Hayden in more than just a friendly way? And as I walked out into the hallway, a new question popped into my head. Did he like me back?
