On the sofa, making out are my two best friends. I feel like I'm going to be sick. Since Alana is on top, she stumbles up and fixes her hair.
"Em!? We-I didn't hear you pull in." She clears her throat and wipes her hands on her shorts.
"Why didn't you tell me about you guys!?" I am almost in tears. How could my best friends share a secret this big and not tell me.
"We.. it wasn't really planned, Em," Hayden says as he "soothingly" touches my shoulder. I am actually in tears now.
"Get out! Get out of my house Hayden!" I yell. As he reaches the door he turns around to apologize, and then he is gone. I turn to Alana and fall into her, bawling. I feel so left out and ignored. She apologizes over and over, rubbing my back and holding me. I'm getting her clothes all wet because I'm soaked in rain water.
"Em, he just came over like he always does, looking for you. And I called you but you never answered and then we were watching a movie and we just kinda had a moment. I don't think it's going to turn into anything."
"My phone. The rain, my phone is ruined. It got rained on," I sob, "I didn't know, Lana, I-" I must just be tired. I take a deep breath and stop crying.
"Your date!? Come on, let's go up to your room and you can tell me about it."
Once we get up to the room, and Alana sees how messy I look she gasps.
"My masterpiece!? Emmaline! What the crap happened to your face." She is shocked. I laugh at her.
"It started raining and our date was outside," I laugh.
"Did he kiss you in the rain, omg!?" She is getting dry clothes out for me.
"No, but we had a moment.. actually we've had lots of moments.." I laugh.
I take my clothes in the bathroom and jump in the shower. The hot water helps me recover from all that's happened and I can finally breathe normally.
I get out and get my tank top on and pajama shorts. I walk back to the room but stop when I hate that Alana is on the phone.
"I don't think we can do this Hayden! No. Because I don't like having to hide anything from her and we'd have to hide this. Plus you are a player, and there's no way you are getting into my pants. See. That's better. It was a one night make out session. Make out and forget. Okay. Bye Hayden." She sighs. I decide I can walk into the room now.
"Have a nice shower?" She asks, while still on her phone.
"Yeah." I plop onto my bed and Alana does the same. It's not even 5 minutes until I am asleep.
-------
I wake up to the sound of a bell.. and I realize it's Alana's phone. It's Sebastion, and I figure since my phone is broken he is trying to get a hold of me through her.
"It's Em.. did you want to talk to Alana?"
"Nope, just you,"
Well in that case, "Sebastion. I'm trying to sleep."
"I know. That's why I just dropped it off."
"What?"
"On your porch."
"Um.. okay."
"Have a good day, Emmaline."
"Mmhm." I end the call and get up, Alana shifts but is still out cold. She always sleeps an hour later than me.
As I go down the steps, the cold wood pats under my feet. I reach the door and unlock it. At my feet is the box of a new iPhone, the same style as the one I broke. A normal person wouldn't accept this kind of gift but I'm tired and I know he won't take it back, plus the fact that I need a phone at the moment. I open it up and there's a piece of paper in it that I read as I go upstairs.
"Our date was fun, and I hope to have another with you. Here's a new phone since you stupidly drowned your other one. But this isn't for social purposes. You can only call me." I laugh at him.
"Em?" I hear my mother's voice as I reach the top step.
"Oh hey, Momma!" I go back down the stairs and hug her.
"I got home last night late. I had called you but you never answered." She says. I explain the whole broken phone thing once again.
"Oh, well, I am gonna have to leave in about an hour again. I got you and Alana coffee." She reaches to the counter and pulls two out of three coffees and hands them to me.
"Thanks, I love you, Momma," I say as I walk away, but I stop.
"Did you know Dr. Hemmings had a son about my age?" I ask innocently.
"Yes, Sebastion, why?" She looks at me curiously.
"No reason." I say.
"Have you met him? He has the sweetest little girlfriend... Rosie I think her name is? I always thought you'd be cute with him but, I never would interfere with teen love." She shakes her head.
"Oh.. okay thanks mom." I say, trying to cover it up. I get up the stairs and grab my phone.
"Alana get up. " She rolls over and barely opens her eyes, I hand her her coffee, "Mom is home and I just asked her about Sebastion and she said he had a girlfriend. Like steady, promise ring, serious girlfriend." Alana chokes on her coffee.
"What!? You need to call him! This is serious!" She yells.
"Just my luck." I say as I pick my phone up and dial Bash's number.
"Emmaline, Good Morning." He smiles.
"I need to see you," I say.
"Wow, so soon?" He laughs.
"Meet me at JavaBean in 10."
"Is everything alright?" He asks concerned.
"Maybe for you," I say ending the call.
"Want me to come with you?" Alana asks me. I look at her and think.. "I guess it couldn't hurt," I reply.
She jumps up and we get dressed.
-------
As I step into the café I see Sebastion who was sitting at a table, now stands up he reaches a drink to me.
"I bought you a coffee," He smiles.
"Thanks," I try to smile. Today, unlike yesterday is sunny, so Bash and I sit outside, while Alana stays inside.
We sit there silently, and I drink my coffee. In my head I plan out what I want to say but that plan goes down the drain as soon as I open my mouth.
"Rosie. She.. I talked to my mom, I asked her.. about you and, she mentioned Rosie... your very serious girlfriend. GIRLFRIEND, Sebastion. You have a girlfriend." I look at him and wait for him to defend himself.
"Yes I do.. But it's long distance, it's unstable, and it's slowly coming to an end."
"But you still are dating her."
"Technically yes bu-"
"Bye Sebastion." I say getting up. I want him to stop me. So desperately I want him to tell me he won't let me end this so early, but he doesn't. He just sits at the table and looks at me.
I grab Alana and we leave.
