After what seems like a lifetime and four million different outfits, I end up with a one piece thing that looks like an extremely short dress but it's really shorts. It's cute and comfy. I'm sitting in the bathroom on the sink and Alana has not only straightened my hair, but she has also put my makeup on. I feel dumb. I don't even want to go on this date.
I go to sit back in my room and hear my phone ringing on my bed. I flop onto it and pick my phone up and read the caller's name. It's Bash. I look at Alana hoping she won't see me but when I realize she's looking right at me waiting for me to pick it up I have to answer it.
"Hey," I hear his deep voice. He is smiling, I can tell.
"Hey back," I reply. Looking at Alana. I turn it on speaker phone.
"So I'm kind of sitting in your driveway.. feel free to come out whenever you'd like." He laughs. Alana immediately gets up and looks out my window.
"He's here." She mouths. I jump up and finish the conversation, "Okay, be there in a sec," I say as I end the call.
"Alright. I will be here, waiting on you, and all your date details." Alana says, following me downstairs.
"In the meantime, I'll be watching a marathon of Grey's Anatomy on Netflix." She plops herself onto our couch.
I open the door and step into an envelope of warm darkness. It still smells like rain, but the rain itself has stopped. I can barely see Bash's familiar black car. Once I do, I see his grinning face through the windshield. As I approach the car, I notice him getting out of it, and walk to my side, opening the passenger door for me. I smile and thank him.
Once I'm in the car, he hustles back to his side and jumps in. He revs up the engine and looks at me.
"I hope you like being outside." He grins and starts to drive.
20 minutes into the drive, with only small talk every few minutes, I look around. We are driving on an isolated road surrounded by trees.
"Where exactly are you taking me?" I am still looking around.
"It's a surprise. We are almost there." He says, laughing at my impatience.
"What is your obsession with surprises?" I shake my head and rest it on my hand.
"We're here!" He says as he pulls into a side trail that isn't paved and is quite obviously not supposed to be driven on. We are driving into the woods?
"Where exactly is "here" because all I see are trees." I say getting my things ready to get out of the car. I go to open the door but he is already there, sticking a hand out to help me. I reluctantly take it and step out.
"Up there." He says pointing to a hill. A steep hill. With all trees.
"Oh..." I say. He starts walking up the hill.. or trudging. I hustle to keep up with him.
"So how do I know you aren't som psychopathic murderer that takes his prey to isolated cabins on isolated hills in the isolated woods at night?" I ask with attitude.
"You don't. And that's why this is so fun." He laughs. I look up again. I'm secretly thanking Alana for making me workout with her, because otherwise, I'd be dead by the time I reached the top of this hill. Whether Bash is a serial killer or not.
-------
About 5 minutes later I tiredly take a last step and Bash grabs my hand. He pulls me up and I see a small little navy blanket with candles surrounding it. Wow... okay.
"Come here," He says, and I follow him, when we reach the edge I'm in awe. From this very spot, I can see the entire beach, and I can faintly hear the ocean waves crashing in.
