Chapter 5
I had not spoken since that night weeks ago. Skylar wasn't happy that I didn't talk but I couldn't bring myself to speak about it. Or to even speak at all. Every time I thought of it, my body ached in some areas. I moved under the blanket to open my eyes seeing Ryker at the desk.
Since that night they have not let me out of their sights. If I wasn't with one I was with the other. I was made to stay in their room with them, at least their bed was big enough to fit all three of us.
It was weird since I was 17 sleeping in the same bed as my 23-year-old brothers. Skylar said it was so no one could hurt me again. Something had been nagging at the back of my mind since that day. The water line that had covered my body I had no control over yet it had form and tried to protect me but it was too weak too.
Stepping out of the bed I move towards Ryker, he was focused on some papers not paying me any mind. I saw one that looked a little older and torn a little. Pulling it from the place on the desk I read the words slowly.
When the fullest of moons is at it's highest, the rarest one will use its blood to weaken the bonds on the ancient seal. At the sealed island's the lands will feel the wrath of the sea. For it's master will rise forth once again, and the sea's will shake the lands once more.
I frown as I could see it looked as if the bottom half of the paper was ripped off. So more had to be missing but I couldn't be sure.
"I didn't know you would get this. It's some ancient prophecy that has been lost for a while. The humans don't want it to come true. It is said that there was once a man who was called the master of the sea, but the humans locked him away in a place called the sealed islands for that they feared his powers." Ryker got up from the desk and move behind me.
I froze in place as he moves his arms to the desk in front of me. He had me caged between him and the desk, I could not run if I wanted too. My back was to his face and he seem to be leaning his face into my hair. "I don't think you have realized it but since you had started to train with Skylar, your brown hair has slowly started to turn a white with light blue in it."
My heart was racing in my chest as I felt tears welling up. My body was shaking a little as I could feel his body against mine. It was terrifying me, I didn't want to think that Ryker nor Skylar had anything to do with the attack on me but it was hard to ignore that it was a possibility.
"Ryker, get back! You are scaring him!" Skylar said as he walked into the room and towards us. He didn't look happy at all either. The moment Skylar was close enough he pulled me away from Ryker and into his arms. I couldn't help but bury my face in his chest as I felt the tears falling.
"I wasn't trying too. He just looks so cute like that." Ryker shrugged his shoulders as he moves back to his chair. Skylar gently takes me over to the bed and smile softly.
"It's going to be okay Raven. Ryker wouldn't hurt you like that. He is our older brother after all." He wiped the tears away from my eyes. I watched his as he spoke. It twitched. His eye twitched. He was lying to me, it onlytwitches when he lies. I have to find out what they are hiding from me then get the hell off this ship. Before I become some toy for them to use more. I just wasn't sure how.
As the days passed I tried to find more stuff out, it wasn't working very well but with me being quiet all the time now no one knew I was around half the time so I could listen in to their talks.
The sun was slowly coming up one morning and I could hear both Skyler and Ryker talking with someone. His voice sounded familiar until I realized the reason why. It sounded just like one of my attackers. He was here in the room with us. I held my panic back as I pretended to still be sleeping so I could listen in.
"He has read the prophecy, but he doesn't know it is he who is the rarest of bloods. If y'all had not of attacked him, his abilities would not have called out to the seal. Now that it has his body is preparing for the master of the sea. It will be used to give him strength to destroy those who locked him away." Ryker said, it sounded like he was messing with some papers.
"We just have to make it a few more months, the moon will be at its fullest, right above the islands. This will be the only chance we have until another 100 years. It has to be just right or we could lose this chance." Skylar spoke as the sound of feet move towards me and I felt his hand being placed on my head. He slowly pets me gently. "I just wish it wasn't this way. He is still hurting from it. It breaks my heart, I am so angry we had to do this to him."
I could hear the sadness in his voice, it was breaking my heart but I couldn't move or cry. If I did they will know I am awake and listening in to what they are saying.
"It maybe so, but he will be able to break the seal on master. Once the master is here, he will see that those worthless humans that killed Raven's mother will be taken care of and he will be the reason they are punished for it. The master will make his life worth the sacrifice." The one that had once attacked me said.
I didn't want to be some pawn in this game. I was learning more but I didn't want to know any of this. I wanted to be back home with boss and everyone else. Not here being tortured by the people who called themselves my brothers.
When I get the chance, I was going to get off of this ship and away from them. I wasn't sure when that would be but I prayed it was soon. I didn't want to keep being here where anyone could hurt me and those I was slowly starting to trust would allow it.
