Chapter 2

As I grabbed the bag that had the things I'd needed for the trip, I heard the heavy feet fall on the porch. In the doorway stood the two twin pirates I had just learned from my boss is my older brothers. Even if they are half-brothers.

"Raven, you are one tricky one to find you know that?" The shorter one of the two spoke as he moves towards me smiling. I knew not to trust anything about them. If my mother wanted me far away from them, then I wouldn't trust them at all. "Don't be like that Rave, I'm only trying to talk with my baby brother."

I happen to glance at him to see he was pouting over it. 'Who's the youngest in the room?' I thought, 'They sure don't seem older by how this one is acting.'

"You know, aunty shouldn't have taken you from us. We wanted to protect you from the humans more then anything." The one who was pouting was the only one talking. I wasn't sure what to think of the taller twin. "Oh right, you probably don't remember our names. Silly me."

He held his hand to his chest as if his name is the best one ever, "I'm Skylar, and that quiet meanie is Ryker."

Ryker watched me with eyes that said if I even tried to make one step out of line he would make me regret it. It sent chills down my spine at just the look in his green eyes.

"I'm sorry but I do not know all the things my mother has done, or why I was not raised around y'all. However, I do know I am just a helping hand and boss has even said so. I am not pushing, nor commanding but shouldn't we get going to get this trip underway?"

Ryker's eyes seemed to catch fire at my words as if he wanted to knock me out for saying it. Skylar smiled softly as he came over grabbing my bag, "You are right, lets get going then. I can't wait to see what the crew things of you."

I wasn't sure if I wanted to know but I couldn't turn and stay here when I have a job to do. Ryker lead the way through the streets, he ignored all the violent's and shameful acts going on around us. Skylar on the other hand, had a goofy grin on his face as he seems to be enjoying it all. I was starting to wonder if they liked the chaos that went on around them.

As we got closer to the docks I could see one ship stood out compared to the others, it was painted as if it could hide in any weather the sea through at it. I bit into my lip as my nerves started to scream at me, I wanted to turn and run away so badly. Everything inside me was saying to run, get away before it was to late. However, both twins were on either side of me so if I even tried to run they could grab me real fast. No one would care since I was being a helping hand for them.

"Doesn't our baby look awesome?" Skylar asked grinning like an idiot. I couldn't form words to even say anything as we slowly made our way onto the large ship.

"Have the preparations to set sail been made?!" Ryker yelled when he steps onto the ship. His voice boomed loudly, you could hear it even below deck. His voice held command to it, if you even thought of disobeying he would punish you greatly. I sure didn't want to find out what a punishment from him was, or even what Skylar's kinds were either.

"Yes sir!" Everyone above deck yelled as they prepared to set sail. I felt my stomach do flips as I look back towards where my home was.

'I hope this trip ends soon so I can return home.' I thought as my insides screamed to be emptied. I took a deep breath to calm myself. I turn to see the crew was watching me, I didn't like all eyes on me one bit.

"Everyone this is Ryker and I's little brother, and the key, Raven. Make sure he is welcomed." Skylar said smiling a dark smile. It freaked me out how fast he can go from being all goofy to dark and scary in seconds. That's when it hit me what he said.

"Key? What do you mean?" I asked frowning towards them as I tried to figure out what they meant. Skylar looked like he was about to say something when Ryker's voice cut through the silences.

"None of your business. As you have said you are a helping hand, nothing more so it does not bother you why he said that." He had a glare on his face as he spoke to me, before turning back to the crew. "Now let's sail and get on with the trip so we can get everything together!"

It bothered me badly, but I could see Ryker shut down any way of me finding out what is going on and why Skylar called me key for. I guess I'd just have to wait until the right time to bring it up again.

I got settled in and started helping the crew get everything together for dinner when I went to ask Skylar something. However, before I could even turn into the captain's corridors I heard voices. I stop to listen just in case it had anything to do with being called key.

"Ryker, you have him scared. How are we supposed to get him to agree if you keep scaring him away? I know aunty took him away when we wanted him close to us. But it was your idea to find him to fulfil the prophecy. He is key, and we need him to agree or we might not be able to." I could tell it was Skylar speaking, but I wasn't understanding when he said about a prophecy.

"We don't need him to agree with us on it. I can see that bitch has turned him against us and he will never agree to it willingly. So, we will use him by force to break the seal. He will do as we say once he realizes that the humans are the ones who killed his mother, cousins, uncles, and aunts all because they fear it." Ryker said, his voice sounding dark.

My heart started to pound in my chest, 'what?' my thoughts rushed to the story boss told me about mother becoming lost at sea. That during a battle with other pirates she got knocked into the water and became lost. I moved my hands to cover my mouth as tears welled up into my eyes. 'No.'

I turn and rush away from the room with both my brothers inside. I refuse to believe the ones mother loved most killed her. I couldn't bring my mind to think right as I hid in a dark corner below deck to not show anyone that I was crying. My body shook with each sob it wanted to break free. I refuse to allow them to come out though in case anyone was near.
