An all familiar Prius with dents on its hood was cruising along the highway, passing by the thick, green clusters of trees and the cliff side on the other. The drive was long, indeed, but still a smile was playing on Annabeth's lips.
It was last night, of course, when Percy took her out on a date at the pizza and burger joint they both loved. She had insisted she'd get to San Francisco on her own. He was still driving her back anyway. They've had too many stops, occasionally because of a few monster attacks and couple of coffee breaks. Ahem, food breaks of Percy's preferences.
The sun was already peeking from between two mountains in the distance, bathing her boyfriend's face in an orange light.
Gods, my boyfriend is so cute.
"You shouldn't have, Percy. I could have handled it on my own," Annabeth said, putting her hand on top of his. He cast a look at her with those stunning sea green eyes, the smile wrinkles deepening around them.
"Nah. It's no biggie. I said I'd take you home."
"How about you? How will you get home? You're already tired. I'll let you crash in my place—"
Suddenly, he stepped on the brakes and the car stopped. Then he got hold of her in his arms and gave her a sweet kiss.
"It's okay, Wise girl. I'm home."
