Adriens Point of View

Everyone heard it. The piercing sound of a gunshot echoed through Paris. Everyone froze in their spots, turning to where it was the loudest. When I saw where they were looking, my heart stopped.

——-Earlier that day——-

"Hey, where's Marinette?" I asked Alya, coming up behind her. Marinette was in class, but disappeared after the bell rang, dismissing us.

She shook her head. "I don't know. She hasn't talked to me all day."

Today was my first day of school since my father grounded me. I was excited to see Mari, but quickly realized she didn't know who I was.

My father told me to come straight home, or he would ground me again, so I couldn't look for Marinette as long as I'd hoped to.

I looked everywhere, in the library, behind the school, back at the classroom, but Marinette was nowhere to be found. She wasn't at the bakery, because I would've seen her walking there. Sighing in defeat, I started on my way home. My eyes widened as I checked the time displayed on my phone. I was late! I started running to my house and only stopped when I was in front of my doorbell. Panting, I pressed the bell, not even flinching as the camera popped out.

"You're late, Adrien." Natalie's voice rang out. I just nodded my head because I was panting so hard.

The gate opened and I walked inside.

"You're late." I shuddered as I saw my father on the stairs. "I told you to get here on time."

"But fath-" I started.

"I don't think you can go to school anymore, you're disobeying me."

There was no reasoning with him, so I started up to my room, my head down.

"And, Adrien," I quickly turned, my heart filling with hope. "You aren't to leave the house without informing me. Now go to your room." My heart shattered.

When I got to my room, I turned around and locked the door behind me, then opened my window. "Plagg, claws out!" I shouted, startling the sleeping kwami in my jacket. I transformed into the well-known superhero and jumped out of my window and into Paris. After I got a good distance away from my house, I leapt into an alley and detransformed.

"You really should at least warn me before transforming! Now I better get a good helping of cheese when I get back." Plagg stated.

I nodded, too exhausted to argue, and started walking down the streets.

Then, I heard it, everyone heard it. The piercing sound of a gunshot echoed through Paris. Everyone froze in their spots, turning to where it was the loudest. When I saw where they were looking, my heart stopped.

They were all looking at Marinettes bakery.
