Hey guys,
So I was looking up info for something and I came across Taylor's Wikipedia page which has clearly been edited, but not in a good way I would say. The things this person edited in are speculation and opinions whereas this website is supposed to be based on well sourced information.
Some Wikipedia pages are able to be edited by anyone, and some are locked so that only the professional editors at Wikipedia can edit them.
This is the Paramore page, and in the corner above their picture you can see a pencil graphic with a lock over it which means that this page isn't open to public editing.
This is Taylor's page, as you can see there's no lock over the pencil graphic, meaning anyone can edit this.
I checked the sources on the first couple sentencesm because I didn't see any new sources, and it turns out that whoever edited this used those old sources to add the stuff about Taylor being an "unrecognized founder" and the "former drummer." Unrecognized founder isnt really a fact, it's more of an opinion that a lot of people hold because they feel he deserves more credit, which I agree he does deserve more credit. He was never the official drummer for Paramore though, he was never officially credited with that responsibility, so that's false. He may have played drums on a few tracks but he's never changed from being the guitarist, drummer has never been his official title.
Whoever edited this wasn't American, my guess would be they're from somewhere in the UK because of the word 'whilst" instead of "while." But this editor (not sure of its the same person) goes on to say that Taylor played with HalfNoise which is true, but that Halfnoise was an inspiration to AL and that he took ideas he saw in HalfNoise and used them for AL. I should like this right? This is an opinion I've had since the album came out, but it's just an opinion. As you can see there's no source for this little snippet that's been added, it's just something someone said, and maybe I support the opinion, but I can't suppoort being irresponsible with information.
More proof that a professional editor didnt write that, on top of not being sourced, was that incorrect grammar was used.
This is a snippet of a quote from a professional editor on Taylor's page. As you can see they not only site their source (the blue 7 is a link to their source), but they put the quotation marks after the period which is correct grammar which the other editor didn't do.
Please leave editing these pages to the professional editors or please use an accurate, reliable, updated source for what you're saying. Someone will read this and think it's correct just because its on Wikipedia, even though it's not sourced information.
