Hi hey what's up how are you

It's the anniversary of my second favorite Paramore album, All We Know Is Falling, and I wanted to do something cool and related to the album. Today I wanna talk about why the video for Emergency is one of Paramore's best, and why it's genius without us even knowing it.

I would put the video for Emergency in the top three Paramore music videos, along with Rose-Colored Boy and Now, in terms of symbolism, production, and meaning.

At first glance the video seems to really mean nothing, just behind the scenes of them filming the video as the video progresses, but there are several subliminal clues that when put together lead to a searing take down of the record industry.

The video opens with all the band members in a random room, looking depressed and cleaning their wounds. We don't know how they got these injuries, although they seem to correlate with their roles in the band: the boys having wounds on their hands from playing their instruments, some of them having nosebleeds from headbanging to hard.

They all gather in this room and look at each other, seeming to have a silent conversation and asking each other how they got where they are. They all look up when a well dressed man walks in; obviously a powerful executive of some kind. The person playing this man is Shane Drake, the director of this music video and many others by Paramore.
