Mother Knows Best

Rapunzel's POV

"So can I?" a bubbly, blonde-haired girl asked her mother.

"No Rapunzel. You can't just go outside and explore. You need to stay here my flower," Rapunzel's mother, Gothel replied, "where you can be safe and sound."

"Bu-"

"You need to stay here beacause the world is evil my dear. Full of ruffians and thugs," Gothel interrupted

"But I can take care of myself!" Rapunzel protested, "Please? Please? Just this one time?"

Gothel shook her head. "No you may not."

"But mo-" Rapunzel tried to say.

"I said no!" Gothel snapped, glaring at Rapunzel, "Now go back to your room and stay there until I get back."

"Fine," Rapunzel muttered.

Gothel nodded, "There's my girl. Now hop along."

Rapunzel sighed and walked off to her room and slammed the door. She flopped on her bed and buried her face in her pillow.

Why can't mom let me go outside like other people? I'm a grown woman now. Rapunzel grumbled to herself inside her head. The only this she allows me to do is take my fashion classes and shop at the food market.

Rapunzel groaned and sat back up. It's just not fair. She walked to her sketch book and started drawing some new dress designs to take her mind off everything around her.

Rapunzel started singing to herself quietly as she drew on her sketch book.

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" Rapunzel exclaimed, in the middle of drawing a violet chiffon shawl around a dark, mysterious looking, evening dress.

Gothel opened the door and poked her head around the door, "I'll be leaving now. I love you!" She stepped foward and gave Rapunzel a big hug.

Rapunzel sighed and smiled, "I love you more!"

"I love you the most," Gothel murmured and kissed the top of Rapunzel's forehead, "Now ta-ta! I'll see you in a bit my flower!"

Rapunzel nodded and let go of Gothel, "And I'll be here. Safe from everything else."

Gothel smiled and walked out of the room. The apartment turned silent as soon as Gothel left the area.

Rapunzel quickly looked out of the window and saw Gothel walk down the street and into the city. Just as she was about walk back to her room, she saw a boy with dark hair running quickly down the streets. He almost looked as if he was running away from something. But before Rapunzel could see anything else, he was gone within a few seconds.

Hmmm. Rapunzel thought to herself. I wonder...

And that's all for the moment! Who is the dark-haired boy? Why is Gothel keeping Rapunzel in? Well you'll have to read the story to find out!
