———Enid handed her three pokéballs to the nurse which she gladly took and gave her a warm smile. "Don't worry, your Pokémons will be fully healed in just a minute!"
The white haired girl nodded and once the nurse went inside the emergency room with Enid's pokéballs she took a seat on the Pokémon Center's coach next to a boy who she really hasn't seen before and groaned. "Jeez, great job forgetting your full heals, Enid." She mumbled to herself. "Who knew I would encounter a trainer that would use toxic a lot? All of this just for going to the Professor's lab. . . ."
"You're going to Professor Birch's lab too?"
Enid turned around and was surprised that the boy next to her decided to talk to her, her social awkwardness kicked in and only nodded in response. First she didn't expected a trainer forcing her to battle then poisoning her entire team and then talking to a total stranger in the center.
"Oh, same!" He said with a grin while his light brown eyes were looking at her silver ones. "But I have one problem tho, I'm kind of lost. . . ."
"Lost?" Enid tilted her head, she thought everyone in the Hoenn region knew where Professor Birch's lab was located and that was in Littleroot Town. The boy nodded in embarrassment and answered, "Yeah. . . You see, this is my first time being in Hoenn."
Her eyes widened, maybe this was the trainer the Professor has been talking about? "Really? Which region are you from?" She asked, pretending that she didn't know he was from Kanto, but then again she needed more confirmation. Maybe he was from another region?
"I'm from the Kanto region."
'Welp, that confirms it.' She thought to herself. But she decided to pretend that she didn't know about anything related to his arrival. "So, what brings you here?" She asked him, the boy took off his red hat and ran his hand through his spiky brown hair. "Well, I'm just here to complete the Hoenn Pokédex, and to compete in the Pokémon league too!"
Enid blinked her eyes, "Complete the dex? Sounds incredibly hard." she said. The boy just nodded in agreement and let out a chuckle, "It's not so hard if you believe in yourself, and be determined." he told her on which Enid agreed. She never met someone who was determined to complete the dex, most trainers just give up on it because of the fact it was so difficult. But this trainer was different and that intrigued her to ask why he wanted to complete the dex.
"Well, I did completed the Johto and Kanto dex, and now Professor Oak wants me to complete the next region which is Hoenn." He explained. "Oh, wow! You completed two Pokédex regions? That's amazing!" Enid complimented him, but before the trainer can thank her the two of them were interrupted by the nurse telling them they're parties are fully healed now.
The two of them got up and retrieved their Pokéballs back, Enid immediately let Blue out of his ball and the trainer let his Pikachu out. Enid looked down on Blue and gave him a warm smile, "Feeling better now, buddy?" she asked on which the Lucario let out a happy cry. The girl turned her head to the trainer, "You're going to the Professor's lab right? I think it's best if we go there together."
The trainer nodded in agreement and got out of the Center together, they were currently in Oldale Town which means Littleroot Town is nearby. It was a quiet walk and Enid was leading it with the trainer she met was beside her, Blue was holding the bags of Pokémon food and was talking with the Pikachu from behind their respective trainers.
After walking through Route 101 they finally made it to Littleroot Town, it was a peaceful little town that had gotten slightly bigger throughout the years, there were trees and flowers everywhere— it was different from what Enid remembered too. Luckily, the Professor's lab was still the same building on which Enid recognizes.
The two of them both entered the building, only being greeted with a sight of a Torchic and a Mudkip fighting with the Treecko trying to stop the fire type and the water type. "Mudkip! Torchic! Please!" A woman in a lab coat stepped in and parted the two starters away, Enid never recognized this woman before so she assumed she was new. She had to admit tho, this woman was quite pretty with her forest green eyes, brown long hair that was braided and fair skin. She also wore circular glasses and it really suited her.
"W—what just happened?" The boy who tagged along with Enid asked the woman. The woman sighed and carried the two starter Pokémons in her arms and pushed her glasses up to fix its position, "Just Mudkip and Torchic fighting again, don't worry, they always do this." she sighed and gave the boy a warm smile. "Tell me, what brings you two here in the lab?"
"We're looking for the Professor." Said Enid.
The woman's green eyes blinked a few times and stared at the two for a bit before nodding, "Right, you two are starting your journey huh? How cute, I remember the time when I was still a rookie trainer." she let out a chuckle and looked at the two again. "So are you two travelling together by any chances?"
Enid and the boy shaked their heads in response. "The professor just wanted me to bring in new Pokémon food, that's all." Enid answered. "And I just got here from Kanto to start my Hoenn journey, and I'm sorry to tell you this but I'm not a rookie." The boy next to her chuckled awkwardly.
"Ah, I see you two have made it." The Professor stepped in the conversation and gave the two a welcoming smile. "It's been a while, Enid. Sorry for making you come over here."
Enid simply shrugged, "It's okay, Professor."
The Professor turned to the boy. "And you must be that trainer that Oak told me about? What was your name again?"
"It's Red, nice to finally meet you Professor!" Red have him a determined look. Enid, however, looked at Red. 'So his name is Red? What a unique name.' She thought to herself.
"Oh, and I'd like to introduce to you my niece, Hazel." The Professor gestured his hand to the brown haired girl with circular glasses. Hazel waved her hand and smiled, "Nice to meet you, Enid, Red."
"Now that all of us know each other now, let's get to business." The Professor said, walking to his 'main lab' on where the table that had three Pokéballs of the three starter Pokémon were placed. With the three of them following him.
