I had continued trying to call Adam all the way up until it was time for the car to pick me up for my first appearance. I kept getting his voice mail. I checked my cell phone 20 times and still the same thing. Nothing. I called back to the hotel to see if I had any messages and I didnt.I was making myself a frazzled mess.

I was sitting in hair and makeup with Dora my publicist. "Shelby, we are here to discuss the album and only the album..remember that. We have not released an official statement about the pregnancy yet, nor has anyone from your team confirmed or denied the rumor."

"its not a rumor, I'm pregnant"

"In Hollywood until you are on the cover of people magazine holding a baby its just a rumor. If they ask you about it just smile and say you came to talk about the album"

"Thats just going to fuel the fire. Why cant I just say that I am expecting a baby and i am very happy about that?"

"because they wont stop there. It will be a free for all of questions, about you, about Adam levine, about Tom.. the press assumed that you were dating Tom, so naturally there will be those that assume Tom is the father.. Then there will be this mess with Adam.."

"what mess with Adam?  we broke up and we got back together. we are having a baby. its not that messy"

"you broke up and he slept with at least 11 different women...You dated Tom.. Now if you suddenly announce you are broken up with Tom, back with Adam and pregnant..ugh its a non stop PR nightmare.. one we dont need right now Shelby. We are here to talk about the album and nothing else. "

If that was Dora's plan she should have discussed it with the host of the show, not me. It was just a local channel but the interviewer was relentless.

"So.. I hear there has been alot going on in your personal life lately.. Is that  a baby bump you have under that dress.."

"I'm here to discuss the album"

"ok we will take that as a yes... now tell us who the father is.. Are you really involved with Tom Hunter or are you still carrying a torch for Adam levine?"

I looked helplessly offstage at Dora who looked like she was about to be sick. I felt the same way.

"I am really not comfortable discussing my personal relationships. You can ask me anything you like about my music but I really prefer not to discuss my private life. I will just say that the father of my child and I are very much together and very happy."

"well then you have answered the question for us. You are having a baby with Tom Hunter.. Congratulations. I was hoping it was him.. especially after the latest Adam Levine news. That guy is not good enough for you..not by a longshot..Mike do we have those photos"

Within minutes the screen above my head filled up with a slide show of Adam and his friends in Vegas partying. Adam was holding a drink and had a stripper sitting on his lap... She was straddling him and the guys were by his side cheering him on..

"shelby, do you have any comments on the antics of your ex?"

"no. I have no comment"
