A couple months had passed. Mr Smith had moved our seats since then and I ended up sitting right next to Skylar in the back row with nobody else but her and I. Well expect the one kid who has his own desk in the back as well, Hayden. He was always was blamed for things. Hayden denied the blame but we all knew he did them."Alrighty! Get your IPads out and start Esparking until I tell you to stop." Mr Smith said then started typing away at the keyboard. I rumaged through my desk. No IPad. I went to the hooks in the back to check my bag. No IPad. I walked back too my seat and plopped down. "Forget your IPad?" Skylar asked, logging into Espark. "Heh, yeah.. Must've forgotten to grab it off the charger.." I grinned slightly. "Here, we can do my quest together." Skylar plugged her earbuds in and handed me one.
Here's a situation I never thought would happen. Me and my new friend sharing an Espark quest.
"Ooh ooh wait lemme show you this weird math video I was given!" Skylar giggled, switching into the math quest.
The video was about advanced 7th grade math I didn't understand. All I understood was the presenter was using Chuck Norris. Everytime the guy said Chuck Norris I laughed. "Okay back to reading, I need to get that done.." Skylar switched to the reading quest and scrolled to her next activity. "Oooh reading about coral reefs, let's go!" Skylar clicked on the activity and it brought us to an article about coral reefs. "Hmmm..." Skylar scanned the first few words. Then Skylar scrolled it to the bottom of the page. She did this quickly to the point where the words were blurry. "Done!" Skylar grinned, receiving a slight giggle from me.
"Ooh presentation!" Skylar went back to Espark and scrolled to the next activity which happened to be a presentation. "Can we use Chuck Norris?!" I asked excited. Skylar did some sort of solute. She balled her fist and quickly tapped left to right of her upper chest area and pointed to the sky with her finger. This all happened quickly. "What..?" I was very confused. "Yeah let's use Chuck Norris!" Skylar changed the subject back to the presentation. Reading what we had to do, we had to make a presentation on coral reefs and why to save them.
Opening the IPad's presentation app, we got started. "Don't we need like evidence Skylar?" I asked as we both looked at the blank presentation slide infront of us. "Good idea." Skylar remarked, going back to the coral reef article and taking a screenshot of the beginning of the article. "Got evidence." Skylar went back to the presentation app and inserted the screenshot. "Maybe we should have a presenter.." I suggested as Skylar underlined certain parts of the screenshot. "Good idea, you choose who!" Skylar faced the IPad screen twords me. Out of instinct I drew a wolf-looking figure with squiggly lines going off the screen to represent his head poking out from the side. The wolf also had wings. I faced the screen back to Skylar. "Okay then!" Skylar seemed somewhat amused by my art but I DEFINITELY wasn't the best. "It's what I could do, now what do we call the man?" I asked. "Coral maybe? The presentation is about coral reefs after all." Skylar suggested. "Yeah, Coral the wolf!" I smiled.
The presentation actually ended up being 117 slides long. I had to draw Coral each time since Skylar deemed it impossible to recreate. The presentation started with Coral introducing the topic of how coral reefs are important. Then he addresses the stage crew for the talk show he's doing the whole coral reef thing for. He demands more payment and goes on a rampage killing most of the staff. The rest was Coral arguing with staff members.
"How did a simple presentation request turn into this?!" I whisper-shouted, motioning to the current slide that was up on the presentation. "To be honest I have no idea.." Skylar shrugged, switching to the first slide. "Alright, time for lunch!" Mr Smith announced. Everyone ran out of the room but I hung back while Skylar out her earbuds away.
Skylar and I walked around the black-top, eventually making our way to the grass area. "Hey, there's a spot over there. We could chill there if you want." I got a nod of approval from Skylar and that's the way we went. The spot was a small mound on the left-ish of the field. Down around it on the rest of the field were flowers. It was actually really nice when you think about it. Once we got up to the mound we sat down and just sorta, chilled.
I lied onto my back, putting a hand to my forehead to block the sun and look at the clouds. "Hey, doesn't that one look like a fish? Sorta like Red your fish.." I pointed up to a cloud. Skylar layed on her back as well and blocked the sun with her hand, looking up to where I pointed. "Heh yeah, it does... And that one looks like a erm.. Cloud!" Skylar pointed to another cloud. "Yup that's a cloud all right!" I giggled. "Hey, have you heard of Animal Jam?" Skylar asked. "No, why?" I replied, my gaze transferring from cloud to cloud. "When we get back into the classroom, I'll give you my username and we can chat there." Skylar stated. "Yeah, I like that." I smiled. I don't know if she saw me smile, frankly I might never know, but I won't deny that having a friend like her is good.
Once our whistle was blown to line up, Skylar and I raced back to the line. I was NOT good when it came to running so I had a disadvantage. Once I got there, Skylar was already waiting for me. "Took ya long enough." Skylar remarked, walking into line with me. "I... Am NOT... A good... Runner.." I panted.
Skylar wrote her Animal Jam username on a sticky note and handed it to me when we got back inside. I made a mental note to myself to make an Animal Jam account and add her imediately.
