Skylar and I remained friends throughout. We did increase the friend group though as time passed. Jack, Jaison, and Mason. And that turned out to be our friend group. The same group remained. It did eventually come down to Skylar, Jack and I by middle school.

Today was a special day though.

Skylar and I were texting and I had a plan.

I had a crush on Skylar for a while now, today was the day I confessed. I had been doing pda (public display of affection) too!

Megan:
Heya Skylar can I... Tell you something?

Skylar:
Sure! Anything bestie!

Megan:
I... I like you... Alot...
And I don't mean like bestie bond here.
I mean crush wise..

Skylar:
Megan you know I like Jack... I... I'm sorry but I... Just friends?
We're besties. Besties for forever and nothing more...

Megan:
Oh no I get you there that's fine.

Really it wasn't fine... I stormed off to my room, grabbing a notebook from my room bookshelf. I set my phone to the side and grabbed a pencil.

Whoever's reading this, my name was Megan Shooton. I had a fairly happy life. Great friends, and even though my mom could do without me, I still loves her. I have come to realize that I did lots of things I wasn't meant to. It wasn't Skylar who made me do this, or Anna or Jack. I always felt a deep guilt for some reason and I could never make it go away. This is the solution I have to end the guilt. It was a last resort...

If you ever feel you need me, or miss me, look to the stars. That's where I'll be watching over you. I'll guide you through your life.

But Skylar, whatever happens, remember we're still besties for forever...

-Megan Shooton

I looked over to my phone. A text from Jack.

Jack:
Guess what?! Today has got to be the best day of my life!!

Megan: hm?

Jack:
Skylar and I are officially a thing!

I chuckled softly to myself.

Megan:
Good for you

I didn't bother reading what he said after that.

I left the letter on the bed and went to grab a rope from the garage.

I took the rope up to my room.

I used to tie this kind of knot as a kid.

Hah come to think of it, I had alot of fun with this kinda knot.

I used to go fishing in one if my bushes. I would tie the knot and throw the hole end into the bush hoping to catch it on one if the branches.

Good times...

I tied one end of the rope around my room fan, letting the end with the hole hang.

I ran back downstairs to the basement and grabbed a folding chair.

I set that up right under the hanging rope.

The rope was the perfect length!

I taped the note to my chest and opened my window. Heh, stars are out... I always loved the stars.

I stood on the chair and put the rope's hole over my head and onto my neck.

I looked out the window one last time, a weak smile on my face. The last I'll ever see of the stars...
