"Pete Wentz."
"Why me!?" The short boy asked the gang. The group was sitting in a circle in the leader, Billie Joe's, basement.
"You're the youngest one," The leader said.
Pete blew at his long hair, getting it out of his face. He rolled his eyes.
"I'm still older than him," He said.
"By a few months, really?" Billie Joe rolled his eyes, "I'm graduating this year! You're sophomore."
Pete ran his fingers through his hair. "What am I even trying to get out of him?"
"He knows something," Mark said beside him. "Something about why his brother hasn't been showing up to our meetings."
"Have you ever just thought about asking him?" Pete interfered, "Dude, he's the same grade as you."
Mark narrowed his eyes, "You think we're idiots, huh?"
Pete shrugged, "You guys do do some pretty stupid things."
"And look who joins in," Billie Joe snapped.
"Whatever," Mark said, dismissing the subject, "He ignores us. Whenever we try talking to him, he runs. He's hiding something and we talked to his friend. We found out he tells his brother everything."
"But his brother is the quietest kid in the entire grade!" Pete complained, "You know, I never once saw him smile."
"Does he have any friends?" Tre asked.
Pete shrugged, "Never talked to him."
"Perfect," Billie smirked, "Pretend you actually want to be his friend."
"I wouldn't stay committed to that friendship for long."
"Just stick around until he tells you and book it."
Pete fidgeted with his hands uncomfortably. It's these situations that makes Pete regret joining this club. But it's also this club that took him in as a tiny freshman when no one else would. They're really his only friends. Not only that, but he only ever really talks to Mark despite the group being big.
"Alright, we all at an agreement?" Billie Joe asked.
Everyone said yes and all looked at Pete. He sighed.
"Alright, I'm in."
