"Pete! Did you get anything?" Billie Joe asked as Pete entered the normal meeting place.

"Uhh no," Pete said, feeling shame overtake him.

"Seriously!?" Billie Joe exclaimed, "You told us yesterday you felt close to getting it!"

"Well, I tried," Pete said, "The kid wouldn't budge."

Billie Joe sighed with frustration.

"Pete, you've gotta try harder!" Billie Joe exclaimed. "That kid isn't just gonna tell ya! Gain his trust already!"

That's exactly what Pete did. He gained the kid's trust. Heck, he told his deepest secret to him just so he'll have enough trust to gain the secret! But now that he has it, it feels wrong. He can't tell now.

"I will," Pete said.

Billie Joe smiled, patting Pete on the bag and walking away.

Pete found the hardest part of the mission. Drifting away from Mikey. It shouldn't be that hard. He's only known him for a few weeks! But trying so hard to gain the kid's trust really brought them closer. He hates it. Now it's practically impossible to drift away. Especially with Mikey so attached.

They never had a "friendship." Pete just got used to the company. Used to always having someone by his side. Not friends. More of partners. Pete was forced into this and paired up with Mikey. Like a school project outside of school if that makes sense.

Now he should start mentally preparing for sitting alone at lunch and walking home from school without Mikey asking to come over. About having to just go back to his old ways before he showed up.

"Hey, Mikey," Pete said, "I've gotta tell you something."

"Yeah?"

Pete hoped it would be like the movies. Where Pete wants to tell Mikey something, but Mikey interrupts and says something way more important. All just so Pete isn't forced to end the "friendship" so abruptly. This is a gentle soul, though. A small fragile soul that can easily crack. Pete does not want to be the cause of that crack.

"Uhhh..." Pete sighed, "I was wondering if you wanted to watch a movie with me."

"Sure, what movie?" Mikey asked. Pete regretted asking until he saw Mikey's face light up. He smiled.

"Not sure. I mean... we could watch - um - the new Harry Potter movie," Pete replied, "Which are we on? Fifth?"

"Uhhh, I think it's the fourth," Mikey responded.

"Whatever. Fifth, fourth, they're both really long books anyway," Pete said, making Mikey giggle quietly, "So, when should we go?"

"Why not just walk to the theater right after school?" Mikey asked.

"Okay," Pete said.

Mikey tried biting the smile away, but that didn't work. He smiled with a lip bite now.

********

Pete is not looking forward to the movie. Don't get him wrong, he loves himself some Harry Potter, but with Mikey? He's trying to break up the "friendship." This is harder than when Pete's last girlfriend broke up with him. And trust him when he says he took it hard.

So now Pete was walking to the movie theater with Mikey.

"So how long have we known eachother?" Pete asked.

"I think like... three weeks?" Mikey said, thinking about it, "So nearly a month."

"Ah," Pete replied, biting on his lower lip. That's his time limit. He has a month to tell the gang Mikey and Gerard's secret. But he can't. He swore to Mikey to wouldn't. He knows this group is all about breaking promises, rules, and friendships - or in Pete and Mikey's case - "friendships", but he just can't.

Pete knows he's done that before. That's why Pete never speaks to his friends from Chicago anymore. If Pete was going to stay in the group, he had to delete their numbers. But Mikey is so much different. Pete actually enjoys his time with him. And he doesn't have to delete his number, because they still see eachother everyday. And they have an excuse.

"This is probably my longest friendship," Mikey said, "They all leave after a week."

"Why?" Pete asked, finding himself in genuine curiousity. Who would leave a guy like Mikey? Someone so nice and genuine. He actually helped Pete with his math when he tried acting like he knew what he was doing. Heck, Mikey told Pete great bass tips he had no idea you could do. The dude is smart and funny. He's just all around loveable.

Mikey shrugged, "They just hate how quiet I am."

"But isn't that just one of the many amazing things about you?" Pete asked.

"Not really. They keep urging me to talk more," Mikey said, "I never do."

"But you're not that quiet around me," Pete replied.

"Well that's because..." Mikey grew more quiet. Like he was questioning himself about it.

Guess they'll never know, because Pete was already holding the door open for Mikey at the theater.

I suck at updating. I have an excuse! Kinda. Mainly no motivation, finals, and all around life sucks. But nobody cares, so here's your update!
