"Pete, time's almost up," Billie Joe said, "Get the secret or face the consequences."

Pete rolled his eyes, getting real tired of this warning, "Yeah? What's the consequence?"

"We choose not to tell." Billie Joe said, "So it'll primarily be the person's decision. But it will involve getting kicked out."

Pete's eyes widened. He can't say the secret. He promised Mikey he wouldn't. But he doesn't want to get kicked from his only friends.

"I'll get it," He mumbled, turning his head and looking at everyone else having a good time.

Billie Joe managed to hear it, though.

"Good."

Pete sank down to sit on the floor. He really hates this lonely feeling. Just feeling so out of place. Like you don't belong. It's a more sinking feeling. He's so close to losing all his friends. If only he could just speak up and tell Billie Joe he doesn't want to do anything. But he's so scared of losing everything that he doesn't. He feels like such a wimp.

Pete still put up a smile the following day as he hung out with Mikey at the park. It was Saturday. Seemingly Pete's only day off from his stupid club.

"What's wrong?" Mikey asked.

"Nothing," Pete replied. The two sat on the swings, Mikey actually swinging while Pete just kind of sat there.

"You're really quiet," Mikey said, "And if I'm more talkative than you, there's a problem."

Pete smiled softly, "I don't wanna weigh you down with my problems."

"Why not?" Mikey asked, "You make me weigh you down with mine."

"That's because I don't want you so shy and scared," Pete said, "And that's the thing, you have your own problems. The worst thing, to me, is putting more baggage on your shoulders."

"Would I be asking if I didn't want you to weigh me down with your problems?"

"I guess not," Pete replied, biting down softly on his lip, "I guess I just... I feel kind of lonely. And don't you say I have you."

Mikey was quiet, but gestured Pete to continue.

"I was with my friends yesterday. They said if I don't do something, they'll stop talking to me. I just feel so weak."

"Why?"

"Because I still do it anyway. Every time they want me to do something, they threaten me with that. And honestly, I hate it. But sometimes they feel like all I have," Pete answered.

"They don't sound like really good friends," Mikey replied.

"Yeah, they even convinced me to quit talking to my friends from Chicago," Pete sighed. "I miss them."

"Just talk to them secretly," Mikey said, slowing his swing down to a stop and pulled out his phone, "Still remember their numbers?"

Pete recited his best friend from Chicago's number. Mikey handed Pete his phone.

"He's going to answer soon, so hurry up," Mikey said.

Pete got excited. He lost all sense of manners as he snatched the phone and put it up to his ear. He didn't say thank you either. He realized that and said, before his best friend answered, "Sorry."

Mikey nodded.

"Hello?"

Pete practically jumped off his spring in surprise.

"H-Hi," He said. He wasn't nervous. He was just so excited that he could barely talk. "P-Patrick? It's Pete."

"Pete! I haven't heard from you for months!" Patrick said. Happiness rang in his voice, making Pete's heart race. "How've you been?"

"Great," Pete said, letting out a laugh. Patrick laughed too.

"I missed your voice, man," Patrick said.

"Me too," Pete said, looking up at Mikey, who was swinging again. "Sorry."

"Don't be," Patrick replied, "I've been busy anyway. I took up guitar, so that's kept me busy."

"Dude, that's cool," Pete grinned. Oh did he miss Patrick. "How good are you?"

"I like to think I'm good."

"Than you probably are," Pete replied.

Patrick chuckled, "I wish. Anyway, Joe just arrived. I gotta go."

"Bye," Pete said as Patrick hung up. Pete tossed Mikey's phone up to him. Yes, Pete was impressed Mikey actually caught the flip phone.

"Thank you," He said, still giddy.

"No problem," Mikey replied, "And about your friends here, they really don't sound like friends."

"Yeah, but who else do I have?" Pete asked, "My other friends are miles away."

Mikey rolled his eyes, "Me!"

Pete smiled, "Yeah, I do."
