"Navy pier?" Tris asks, a smile on her face, "I haven't gone there in forever."
Tobias had finally found something for them to do; He had a hard time making choices, usually.
Tris continues to talk, "My mom used to take Caleb and I every week when we were little. I used to be scared of the Ferris wheel, but as we got older I had to comfort Caleb."
The smile on Tris's face begins to fall, so Tobias says, "Well, this time you get to comfort me."
Tris laughs, "Don't worry, I'll hold your hand."
She jumps up and skips into the bathroom, and Tobias sits on the edge of her bed and sighs. A few moments after closing the door, she peeks her head back out and asks, "Just me and you?"
"If that's what you want," Tobias smiles. She grins and closes the door again, and he can't help but laugh at her odd behavior. It was questionable that she was not bothered by Nita, but Tris never was the one to get caught up in petty drama.
One thing that Nita was correct about was the fact that Tobias practically lived there. Half of his clothing was in Tris's room, either from him staying over night or her stealing it from him.
"Is it cold?" Tris asks as she exits the bathroom, "I don't want to be cold."
"It's June," Tobias responds, "It's at least seventy degrees."
"I'm gonna wear pants," She shrugs, turning to her closet. It took her five minutes to do her makeup and her hair, and whatever else she did in the bathroom, but she stands by her closet for fifteen minutes before she turns back to Tobias, "I don't know what to wear."
"It doesn't matter," He frowns.
"I don't want to be cold," She repeats.
"You won't be, Tris," He sighs. Tris easily settled on an outfit after this, and she basically drags Tobias out of the house.
Nita gives them a questioning look as they leave, but the two ignore her. Tobias wanted to distract Tris from the drama in her life, not get her more involved.
The two drive in mostly silence, only Tris humming along to the music playing on the radio. She watches him as he drives; He had the usual stern look on his face, his expression uninviting. She knew he could smile, but it was hard to achieve. What she did not know was how often he smiled at her, whether he just was watching her be happy, or if he was simply thinking about her.
The two were very different; Perhaps it was this that made them so compatible. Tobias did not respect most of the people he knew, considering they did not respect themselves. Nita was beginning to become a part of this group, with her recent actions. Tris held herself to the highest standard she could, only a few times had she acted out of her place. No one could blame her in those situations, though.
"Will you be able to tolerate living with Zeke?" Tris asks randomly.
"Considering Shauna is coming, I probably won't even be allowed in my own room," He shrugs.
"He's your best friend," Tris says.
"Exactly my point," Tobias smiles at her, "He's an ass."
Tobias was reluctant to go on the Ferris Wheel with Tris, despite he fact that it was his idea. When she managed to drag him on, she thought he was going to throw up.
Little did she know, their day would not end there. When they get back into the car, Tobias looks over and asks, "What was your mom's favorite flower?"
"What?" Tris asks, a questioning look on her face, but she continues, "White roses. Simple, she liked simplicity."
"That's what I thought," He smiles at her. She is about to ask him another question, but he says, "You'll see."
