(Finley POV)

I tiredly rub my eyes as I come back from the secret meeting in the depths of the royal palace, getting my ass handed to me by Henry on a silver platter with Mari and Tae for the shit we pulled in France without the permission of our dearest team leader. Our rights were revoked for the rest of the month unless in case of absolute emergency and all of our tech was shut down. Prince Henry might not do shit when it comes to actually fighting our enemies but he sure doesn't mess around.

I groan as I place my wrist against the lock of my small house on a secluded piece of land in full view of the gorgeous mountains with the moon at the perfect angle to shine its light in across my skylights, providing just enough light to let me not kill myself as I try to make my way to bed.

But my body gives midway and I just end up crashing on the couch from pure exhaustion. With another loud groan, I try to actually maneuver my legs onto the couch but they stay flopped to one side instead. I curse myself out under my breath before my heavy lids take me under.

I woke up to the sound of a sliding door and suddenly sit up, thinking someone was invading my house. I grab a hold of my watch but remember my tech was off and end up flinging it across the room in a burst of anger. I realized I now had a blanket draped around me, my legs were actually on the couch, and my shoes were off.

"What the fuck?" I mutter as I toss the blanket to the side and stand up. Going over to shut the sliding door which could never open by itself, only to find the shadow culprit standing on my porch looking out at the stars. I tiptoe over to the man leaning against the railing, his emerald eyes filled with pure wonder and innocence that I have to stop in my tracks. He was so beautiful that he takes my breath away.

I catch myself looking at him in shock, that someone so handsome and perfect could possibly be mine. But this wasn't the only reason why.

Standing in the same position, at almost the same time, all those years ago, once stood someone else. Someone just as beautiful, intelligent, and kind with an edge to compliment my own. She had the same grip on my heart that he has now, and the feeling terrifies me. I wanted him out of my life, but I couldn't push him away.

I would miss his dumbass too fucking much.

Finally regaining the strength to move, I edge my way towards him before wrapping my arms around his waist and he jumps.

"OY! Do you want to give me a fucking heart attack! Jesus Christ Fin," Lei yells at me with his heavy British accent and I chuckle slightly as he turns around to grab me instead.

"You scared me first, and it's my house!" I argue as he pulls me into a tight hug for some strange reason.

"What are you doing?" I ask, a little weirded out by his sudden affection.

"I woke up and you were suddenly gone without a word. I was worried," he pouts and find myself in awe.

"It was just a quick meeting I didn't want to wake you because you look so peaceful when you're asleep," I mutter while just resting my head against his shoulder, liking the warmth radiating off his shirtless body.

"I call bullshit, you just didn't want me to ask questions. Where were you?" He asks and knowing I couldn't tell him the truth as to where I was exactly, it was something that would be hard to avoid.
