November 30th, 4:16 am, Jin's office.
I met Hoseok in the foyer of my office.
Both of us out of breath.
"Got what we need?" Hoseok panted.
I'm never running anywhere again.
"Yeah, Bailey had extra stock," I passed him a handgun.
"The only person available to help us is some university kid, he's eager."
"Where is he?" I asked, concealing my weapons, my chest heaving.
"Outside, I didn't know if you'd want him or not."
"Hobi, we don't have much choice."
We exited my building and met the kid, he was shuffling his feet on the pavement. He looked up as I closed the door.
"H-hi, I'm-" He started to say, smiling.
"No time," I said coolly. "Do you have a car?"
"Ah-uh, yes it's right-" I cut him off again.
"Hobi, go in your police cruiser, I'll go with the kid. Maybe we can corner them."
Hoseok nodded and the kid lead me to his car. I sighed. It would have to do.
"Go down 71st street," I instructed. I pulled out my pistol and cocked it.
"Jesus!" He exclaimed.
"I don't know what Hobi said to you in order to drag you into this, and I don't care, but I need you to drive. Now." I said, harshly.
We were going to miss them at this rate.
Halfway to 71st, the blue van sped passed us.
The kid swore.
"Pick up the pace!" I instructed again. I unbuckled my seat and rolled down the window, the noise from the wind was deafening.
As expected, a gunshot hit the front of the car.
"The hell is going on!" He yelled at me.
"Shut up and drive!" I yelled back, "Follow them!"
He obliged.
I fired back, just missing one of the tires.
The truck met up with several other completely identical trucks. Obscuring the one we needed. And any hope of finding it.
We had lost our chance. Our ONE God damn chance.
"Stop the car," I said defeatedly, sitting down, and closing the window.
The kid followed my instruction and pulled over in front of a bakery.
I got out and slammed the door shut, the sound echoed in the empty street.
"For! Fucks! Sake!" I yelled, angry kicking a wall. Why me!
The kid got out.
"The hell, why can't we follow them!"
"Because if we do, we die!"
"The fuck is going on!" He yelled at me. "What's so important about a van and why are they shooting at us!?"
I kicked the wall again. I saw Hoseok's car pull up on the opposite side of the street. Someone had to tell him.
"A mob is drugging and selling hostages!" I spat. "That's their latest shipment! If we follow them in, we die too!"
The kid dropped his jaw.
I sighed, kicking the wall one last time.
"Fine, kid. What's your name?"
"Jungkook, sir."
