Elephant

I met you at the river again the next day

When I got there you already had your feet in the water

You spotted me right away and smiled

I smiled back

I sat next to you again

Took off my shoes again

And dipped my feet in again

Just like you

Then you said, "Meet my elephant"

You pointed to two beauty marks on your right arm then squeezed the skin in the middle

Making a elephant.

I loved how weird you were

You found something in the weirdest things

And turned them into something even weirder

I made elephant sounds while you made it move

I had a lot of fun.

Just messing around

Without a single care in the world

Just like we did when we were kids

That's how we played

Like little children on a playground during recess

But it was the best recess ever

Better than any that I've ever had at least

It was a day of pure bliss and happiness

I thought we could stay that way forever

I wanted too...

So hard...

I wished...

And prayed...

But it couldn't.
