Keith's day was exactly what he expected. Nothing important really happened. Yeah he got a couple stares here and there because he was the new kid but nothing out of the ordinary for his first day.
He didn't pay any attention in class. There was no point. He would be out of this school soon. His foster dad clearly didn't like him.
The final bell had already wrung. Keith waited a little longer before leaving his final class. He wanted to avoid people as much as possible. It worked. The halls were empty when he made his way to his locker. So far no one approached Keith today. No one greeted him. They only stared. That was kind of normal in his book. Then... he appeared.
A tall Latino boy with deep blue eyes was running down the hall. He almost collided into Keith if it wasn't for Keith's quick reflexes. Keith had been able to move out of the way right before the boy could run into him.
The Latino collided into the lockers instead. He rubbed his face. "Ow. Jeez man." He groaned.
Keith glared at him. "Watch where you're going, asshole." He snapped, crossing his arms.
A loud female voice came booming from down the hall. The Latino boy shrieked quietly. "Why won't she leave me alone!" He whisper yelled.
Keith looked at the boy then back down the hall where the voice came from. It slowly started to become more distant.
"She thinks I'm her soulmate so she wants to puch me." The boy whined, hiding behind Keith's locker door.
Keith had finally noticed the Black mark on the Latino's face. It looked.... familiar. Like Keith had seen it before somewhere. He couldn't quite remember where, though. His thoughts were cut off when the other male was trying to get his attention.
"Hey! Stop staring at my mark and listen! I need your help! Could you please punch me?" The male asked, clasping his hands together.
"What?! Why?!" Keith yelled, completely shocked and confused.
"Because this girl is an idiot and if she sees I've already been punched, she'll think she already punched me. Now pleeeeeaaaase? You'd be doing such a huge favor. She scares the living hell out of me."
Lance continued to beg until Keith finally gave in. "Fine!"
"Oh my gosh! Thank you soooo much!!" Lance yelled in relief.
"How hard do you want me to punch?" Keith said as Lance readied himself to be hit. Keith moved into an easier stance to punch.
"Just make it a bit visible so she'll see it and leave me the hell alone." Lance stated, shutting his eyes tight.
Keith took a deep breath. He made his hand into a fist and pulled it back, readying himself. Then, let go. His arm flew towards Lance's face.
It was at this moment Keith realized why Lance's mark looked so familiar. He was about to freak out and pull his arm back but it was too late.
It was like Keith was watching what followed in slow motion. He watched as his fist made contact with the boy's cheek. They're marks fit perfectly together. Even with the gloves on, Keith could tell.
Then, almost instantaneously, the mark on the other boys cheek burst into hundreds of colours before finally stopping on a bright red.
The impact was hard and the Latino was almost thrown back. He kept his stance as his own hand flew to his cheek. "You didn't have to punch THAT hard!!!" He yelled.
Keith was at a loss for words. He quickly ripped his glove off, revealing his no longer black mark. It was now ocean blue.
It was the brightest thing Keith had ever seen in his life. The colour was almost identical to the Latino's eyes. Such a beautiful deep blue.
Then reality hit him. Keith had found his soulmate.
