The next day after their date, Lance had searched for Keith through the halls. When he finally found him, he offered him an invitation to eat lunch with him and his friends. Keith had agreed, but before they could get to the cafeteria, Keith had stopped him."Lance... I was wondering if we could.. um.. maybe.. take things slow. I'm new to things and I don't want to ruin this..." Keith was so quiet that Lance could barely hear him. He smiled.
"Of course!" He agreed happily. Lance noticed how he relaxed a bit. "I want this to work too.." he says softly so only Keith could hear him even though they were the only ones in that hallway.
Keith smiled up at him.
And then they headed for lunch.
Keith had asked Lance to take things slow two or three months ago and he respected that. The farthest the two would go is gentle hand holding and maybe soft kisses on the cheek from time to time. (Also really late at night text conversations which made them both sleep deprived the next morning.) He wanted things to work with Keith. He really did. I mean, he really liked him, a lot.
So the other boy could get to know him and his friends, Lance had invited him to a movie at his house where his two best friends where going to be joining.
They had all decided to watch Harry Potter after, shockingly to Lance, Keith had said he'd never seen it.
So there they were in Lances room, Hunk sitting against the bed on the floor with a big bowl of popcorn, Pidge in the beanbag chair near the door with a box of some off brand candy and Keith and Lance, laying on the bed together sharing a bowl of chips.
Even though Lance had seen the movies like a hundred times, he was still trying to focus on it but it kept growing difficult since he kept getting distracted by a very cute boy leaned up against him. Lance was even blessed to have his arm around said cute boy. So yeah. He might've been very distracted but he didn't really mind at this point. He eventually gave up on trying to focus on the movie.

They only managed to get through 4 of the movies before, slowly, both Hunk and Pidge had fallen asleep.Keith assumed Lance was asleep too. It was late. He was tired but he knew he couldn't stay the night. He attempted to move out of Lances arms, trying his best not to wake him. Turns out, he wasn't asleep.
"Where are you going?" He whispered glancing at him. "Home?" Keith replies quietly like it's obvious. "But it's 1am. Aren't you going to stay the night?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
"No it's fine. I'll go. I don't want to bother you or anything. It's fine." Keith says, turning and crawling out of the bed when he's suddenly stopped by a hand wrapped around his arm, keeping him from moving any further. "Don't go..." a soft voice speaks. Keith turns his head to look back at the speaker.
"I-I mean... there's no point in you going! It's late. Your foster parents are probably asleep and you're already here so really its better if you stay." Lance says quickly, letting go of him.
Keith smiles very briefly but turns his head to hide it. He remains silent, pondering.
Lance stares at him, worry slowly growing inside of his gut. He finally bursts out, scared that he did something wrong. "You don't have to sleep in the same bed as me. I can sleep on the floor with Hunk and you can have my bed if you aren't comfortable with me which is completely fine." He starts to move off of the bed.
"N-no! That's not why. I just... don't fall asleep easily and I didn't want to bother you with that." Keith says, before Lance can move completely off the bed.
"Oh... well then I'll stay up with you. We can talk or watch a movie or something." Lance says cheerfully. He shifts back into the bed, sitting up completely and patting down on a spot next to him for Keith to sit. Keith just stares at him for a moment but soon complies and sits next to him.
"So... how are you?" Lance asks.
"Good.." Keith answers.
Silence.
"Anything special going on lately?"
"No not really.."
Silence.
"So did you want to watch a movie?"
Keith shrugs.
Silence.
Lance glances at him then glances away, chewing at the inside of his cheek. Keith fidgets with the sleeves of his red flannel.
"Hey Keith?" To this, the boy perks up and looks at Lance. "Yeah?" He asks. "What we're you expecting? As a soulmate that is?" Lance asks, doing his best to avoid eye contact.
"I wasn't expecting anything really.."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I wasn't expecting a soulmate."
Lance just looked at him confused and Keith sighed, knowing he'll have to explain more in depth.
"Well... my mom died at childbirth and my dad was killed in a fire when I was really little. So I was thrown into foster care. Never lived in the same house for maybe more than a month. People said I had a bad attitude." Keith chuckles at the last statment then shrugs. "I guess they were right though. As I got older, my chances of getting adopted slowly slipped away. I was nicknamed the bad kid or emo kid at most of the schools I went to. Being the castaway, I got into some bad shit, did some bad stuff, hung out with... bad people.." he continues, pausing before saying bad people like he's remembering a bad memory. He was now hugging his knees to his chest, staring off into nothing.
"So no... I had no expectations because I didn't know if there even was a soulmate out there for me. When you're surrounded by negative and terrible people, you forget the good things. The good people. You forget that there is people out there who care for you. Who could care for you. But.. you end up thinking that there will never be a person like that. A person who geniuinly cares for you.... But then..." He pauses and finally turns his head to look at Lance. His violet eyes were shining thanks to the tears threatening to roll down his pale cheeks. But that, combined with the warm smile on his face, made Lance's heart skip a beat.
"But then I met you. I really wasnt expecting anything but... you were everything. You made me realize that there were things I wanted and even needed that I never realized I needed before. Like... having someone to talk to or just having a person who cares enough to hug me or comfort me or just.. be there for me. And, for the past couple of months, you've given me all these things. And it's made me really like you. But I'm scared that I'll ruin every thing because I like you so much that if I ruin things, it'll hurt... and that's scary. God I'm pretty sure just this has ruined everything and I've just dug myself a deep fucking grave. " He turns away and hides his face in his hands.
Lance is completely stunned. He remains quiet, not really knowing what to say. Because this really good looking boy with one of the greatest personalities ever is upset. So Lance does the only thing he thinks is right and hugs him, tightly.
Keith is shocked at first but slowly his body uncurls out of a ball and he hugs back, just as tightly.
They stay like this for a long moment. Until Lance speaks up.
"I like you too Keith. A lot. And I don't want to ruin this either. Things like this are terrifying but I'm here with you, okay?" He says quietly. Keith nods. "Okay."
A thought passes into Lances head. A very small thought that should be of no relevance. But it sticks. And Lance can't get it unstuck. He pulls away from Keith a bit to look at him.
"Keith?" He says softly, still holding onto Keith's arms gently.
Keith stares at him. "Yeah?"
And then four words blurt out of Lances mouth before he can push it down his throat.
"Can I kiss you?"
I hope you guys like cliffhangers :P
