You need to stop falling for guys so easily! I thought to myself.
"Hey." Josh said as he bumped into me. "Hi. Get ready for capture the flag." I said and walked into the dorm. I see Emit crying over Matts bed. He looks at me. "You did this!" he pushed me and threw a punch to my stomach. I quickly grab his fist and pull his hand to his back. "Did what?" I asked.
"Ace," Pierce said as I heard screaming. "You might want to look at this." he said and ran in the direction of the Chasm.
I let go of Emit and run after Pierce.
We run into the Chasm and I see a wet body on the floor. He looks all to familiar.
Dark black hair, pale skin. "Matthew?" I put my hand over my mouth, muffling a cry.
More people gather into the Chasm.
"What-" Eric said behind me. "Matt?!" he asked. I fall to my knees, sobbing. "Lets get you out of here." Eric pulled me up.
I look at Matthews dead body one last time before I turn and follow Eric to his room.
"Its my fault!" I cried. "He's dead because of me!" I looked at Eric. He shakes his head. "It is Eric! He killed himself because of me!"
Eric sits next to me and makes me look at him. His eyes soften and I feel a little better. He wipes off tears from my cheek. "Its not your fault." he smiled sadly.
I look into his eyes as he leans in closer to me. I quickly pull away. "Im sorry." I pushed his door open and walked down to the dorms.
I put on a thin black shirt and walk down to the Pit where we all wait for Eric and Four.
Ever since Griffin brought up the question about Eric hitting me, its been haunting my mind.
I'm gonna ask him tonight. I will!
"Attention!" Eric put his hands behind his back. His muscles in his arms flexing, making his tattoo pop out.
I try and contain myself and listen.
"Tonights event is capture the flag," he smiled and so did we. "There are twenty of you so the teams will be in groups of eleven," he said "Including us." he finished.
"You choose first." Four said to Eric.
"Ace." he said immediately. I take a deep breath and walk to Erics side.
"Simon." Four said.
"Eric," I whispered. "Yeah?" he asked. "We need to talk." I said blinking tears away. He looks back at me, frowning and he nods.
Eric and Four finish picking their teams and Eric runs to his room to get his sweater and comes back and we board the train.
"What do you want to talk about?" Eric asked, taking me into another room in the train.
I look at the floor. "Why did you hit me?" I asked still looking at the floor.
He sighs. "It was Max." he said. "Max made you do it?!" I asked, shocked. He shakes his head. "Being a leader is hard. Its stressful... That day when you tried to stop me... I couldn't hold myself back. That was all the anger and frustration that I let build up inside me." he explained.
"Oh." was all I could say.
Its understandable right? He's not just making this up? I don't know anymore, but Eric has been the most Candor to me. He hasn't lied to me once...
I believe him.
"And then when you said that we were over... I just-" I cut him off when I tackled him with a hug. I cry into his shoulder. "Im sorry." he squeezed me.
