I hear shifting in the room and I open my eyes, heavy of sleep. Everyone in the room sits up and swings their legs over their beds.
Josh and I make eye contact and we just sit up, looking at everyone around us.
"It must've been the serum that Eric put in all of us." I said under my breath.
A boy next to me looks at me and stares. Copy them I thought and swung my legs over the bed and put on my boots like everyone else is doing.
The boy looks away from me and gets up and so does everyone else.
Mason follows Samantha as everyone gets up and walks to the Pit. I look around and see Josh. He bumps into other initiates as he tries to walk to me. "Whats going on?!" he whispered to me.
"Shut up and follow them!" I whispered back and pushed him in front of me as we all walk out wearing the same Dauntless clothing.
"Its like their brainwashed." Josh whispered to Mason who was next to him. Mason keeps walking, ignoring him.
I look around and see Eric and Max laughing together. I look straight ahead as we pass Eric until he stops our group.
Eric looks straight into my eyes, frowning. "Eric," Max said, "He cant see you. Just stop trying." he said.
I look straight back into Erics eyes, trying my hardest not to move. "Whats going on?!" a Dauntless man walked around confused.
Eric turns around to look at Max. "Divergent." Max smirked at shot the Dauntless man in the head.
I bite the inside of my lip, trying not to flinch. "Eric. You lead them to the train. Ill be behind you." Max said and Eric nods.
Thats what Jeanine wanted to talk about with Eric yesterday. She gave Eric the serum that controls everyone else but not the Divergents so they would stand out. "It all makes sense." I said under my breath.
We walk into the train and Eric hands us our guns. "Aaron," he whispered, holding my head in his hands, "Please. You have to wake up. Were about to attack Abnegation and I don't want you getting hurt. Please wake up." tears filled his eyes but I stare ahead. He kisses my lips lightly and pushes his way to the front of the train.
I stand in the back with Josh when I feel the urge to cry but I hold it in.
"An attack on Abne..." I trailed off, remembering that Xavier is in Abnegation.
Jeanine chose to brainwash Dauntless for one reason: we are the only faction that knows how to fight and use a gun.
The train takes off and we all stand still. "I have to talk to him." I whispered to Josh, looking at Eric. Josh shakes his head slightly. "Max is behind us. If he sees either of us talking or moving, he'll kill us." he hissed.
"Why are you awake? Are you Divergent too?" I asked. He nods slowly and I look at the floor. "Wish me luck." I said and moved slowly to the front of the train.
I pass Griffin and we make eye contact. I freeze in terror, thinking he was brain dead. "What are you doing?!" he hissed. I sigh in relief and keep moving.
I stand behind Eric and look at his hand before slowly taking it in mine. His hands are rough and he turns to look at me but I stare forward. "You're Divergent." he squeezed my hand, looking ahead.
"I meant to tell you earlier but... Im sorry," I clenched my jaw. "Jeanine is gonna kill me... Isn't she?" my eyes watered.
"I won't let her touch you," he said sternly but quietly, "I promise. Just stay with me... Okay?" he said and I nod. "Everyone get ready to jump!" Eric yelled and opened the door before jumping out.
