Inspired by The Harlem Renaissance
For the first time in a long time I'm happy to say.
I'm happy, I'm strong, I'm wise within , and
I've never been more comfortable in my own skin.
During the day I watch the children play.
But during the night I watch the lights.
With that jazz just a playing and them girls just a singing.
While I sway my hips to the rhythm of the music.
Cause in my soul I truly feel it.
Pride.
Pride in my skin. Pride in my hair. Pride in voice.
Now my people we must rejoice.
The sins and sorrows of the past won't soon be forgotten.
for just yesterday my elders were still picking cotton.
But today is our day.
Today is my day.
Today is your day.
Today is our day.
And today if we make things right.
I promise all our tomorrows will be bright.
So be proud with Black Pride.
