What’s The Point?
Chapter 15
Tony followed Gibbs into the elevator, trying to ignore the way people looked at him. He started playing with his tie when they were in the safety of the elevator. He didn’t look up when Gibbs flicked the emergency switch. Gibbs tilted Tony’s head up, making the younger man look him in the eye. Gibbs hadn’t missed the looks either, and he had a horrible feeling in his gut.
“Ignore them, Tony. They have no reason to stare at you.”
“If they have no reason, why are they staring?” Tony asked. “Do they know? I knew people would find out! I-”
“Tony!” Gibbs interrupted, hoping to stop the on-coming panic attack. “Calm. Down. Everything is going to be fine.” Tony took a deep breath to calm himself and nodded.
“But, if they don’t know, why are they staring?” Tony asked quietly, pulling his head out of Gibbs’ grasp, and looking at the floor.
“We’ve been gone a while, Tony. People were probably wondering where we have been for the past few weeks.” Tony took another deep breath and nodded again.
“Yeah. Yeah, you’re probably right. I’m just being paranoid.” Tony tried to smile, and gave Gibbs a nervous laugh. Gibbs smiled at him, and patted his cheek.
“Atta boy.” Gibbs flicked the switch again, and the elevator sprung into life.

“Hey, Tony!” Agent John Oak called, when he saw Tony and Gibbs step of the elevator. “You missed Steph’s birthday party!” he told his friend, walking over to him. Tony smiled his infamous ‘DiNozzo Smile’.
“Hey, John.” He said, being pulled into a one-armed hug. “Damn, I’m sorry I missed it! I got her present back at my place. I can come and drop it off later?” he asked. John nodded.
“Sure. Sheila’s at home with her all day anyway. Don’t you just love the kids being on vacation?” John said with a grin.
“Ahh, you hate it now, but just wait till their teenagers! You’ll never see them, or they’ll be making a noise!” Tony joked back. John laughed.
“It’s good to have you back, man.” John said, patting Tony’s shoulder.
“Good to be back.” Tony told him. “I’m not here for long today, so I can drop off Steph’s gift once I’m done here, if that’s okay?” John nodded.
“Sure. I’ll call Shelia and let her know to expect you.” John said. “Steph will be buzzing to see her Uncle Tony! She’s missed you. You’ll have to some over for dinner again sometime soon.”
“Yeah, I’d like that.” Tony noticed Gibbs waiting patiently for him. “Anyways, I better get going. Got a meeting with the Director.” John nodded and grinned.
“What’d you do this time?” he asked. Tony just tapped his nose.
“That’s for me to know, and for you to never find out!” he laughed. John grinned.
“I don’t think I wanna know. See ya, Tee!” John turned to walk back to his team.
“See ya.” Tony walked towards Gibbs, who had a raised eyebrow.
“Uncle Tony? Did you have kids and not tell me?” Gibbs teased. Tony smiled.
“If I gave birth to John, then yes.” He grinned. “John’s daughter Steph seems to like me. I am – and I quote – ‘the bestest Uncle that that has ever liveded’.”
