Seven stars pending uncertain on the Fortune Wheel;
Seven roses blooming in the green fields of Brazil;
Seven angels protected, surrounded by the tall hills;
Seven crosses praying to be blessed by God’s will.
Seven flaming souls armed with love and fear;
Seven pairs of hands whipping away stubborn tears;
Seven voices screaming in hopes someone would hear;
Seven hearts aching of love, on waiting for years.
Maria, Ana, Rosário and Mariana;
Perpétua, Manuela and Caetana;
Their innocent hearts tore apart by a ten-year War.
Their sons, husbands and kinsmen missing them from afar.
Left alone and unprotected to face angry merciless men;
Praying for the following day to be the last, over and over again.
Ten years of agony, then years of pain.
And what was left for them, nothing but cold ashes
Of what one day had been dreaming flashes.
Broken hearts, mourning the ones who would never come.
Shattered souls who would never again see their kin home.
Whoever burned under the Sun of Love had to learn
How to reborn in solitude and suffocate the urge to yearn.
Those who stayed are long gone;
Those who would come left them alone;
Never again would they see their kin home.
For those who wait, the days are just so long;
Thousands of dreams to bury away;
Winds and storms twisting all the way.
Another dose of bitterness in the heart every day.
Seven lives sewing the time lines
In an embroider only love could design.
*Inspired in the lives of the soldiers' wives, daughters an kinswomen during the Farroupilha War, in Brazil (1836-1845), in special the lives of the seven kinswomen to Colonel Bento Gonçalves (wife, daughter, sisters and nieces), who bravely defended their house during an attack from the enemy.
