Mackenzie realized Barnes did spend the night in the spare room when she woke up.
She put on a pair of short jogging shorts and a hoodie before starting off her morning with a jog at four o'clock sharp.
She took off the hoodie as she got into her apartment.
After her shower, she walked out to see Barnes sitting on the counter, drinking a cup of coffee.
"Yeah. Help yourself to the kitchen." Mackenzie laughed a little.
"How long and how far do you run?" Barnes asked randomly.
"Up to an hour and normally about fifteen miles."
"How many times do you stop regularly?"
"About three times at the most."
"You like to run?"
"Yeah. Its calming to me. You like to ask so many questions?" Mackenzie raised an eyebrow as she got a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Maybe." Barnes shrugged.
"I got to go. I'll be at SHIELD down the road for most of the day."
"What do you do there?" Barnes asked.
"I really can't say. But I will." Mackenzie sighed. "I just bug the living hell out of everyone until Nick gives me something to do. Or I break into Captain Rogers's office."
"You are a strange little girl."
"I'm twenty five!" Mackenzie stomped her foot.
"And you look fifteen." Barnes chuckled.
"I look younger than I actually am." Mackenzie flipped her hair back over her shoulder.
"You and me both." Barnes chuckled.
"Oh! I'm gonna be late." Mackenzie finished brushing out her dark hair before heading for the door.
"Late for what?"
"Scaring Steve."
"Have fun. Tell Steve I said hi."
"You too, I will, and don't blow up my apartment, please." Mackenzie chuckled before heading to base.

Even with SHIELD being a super powerful top secret government organization, hardly anyone was at the base when Mackenzie got there, which made her happy.
Not many agents would be able to tell Steve that she was hiding in his office.
Mackenzie got into Steve's office and closed the door. Since the door was in the corner of the room, Mackenzie got herself propped up above the door somehow. She stayed up there, waiting for Captain Rogers to come through it.
He walked in about two hours later, closing the door behind him. Mackenzie hopped down from her spot without making any noise.
"So how was your night?" Mackenzie asked, making Steve jump and almost choke on his coffee.
"Give an old man a heart attack, why don't you!" He put his coffee down on his desk.
"I tried." She shrugged and went to his chair, sitting in it and twirling around. "FYI, Bucky said to tell you hi."
"When did he talk to you?" Steve asked, sitting in the empty chair in front of his desk.
"Last night. He spent the night at my place since he was away from his apartment or something like that." Mackenzie took a pen out of the holder and twirled it between her fingers, putting her feet up on Steve's desk.
