Chapter 4: Brother complex

When Luffy came home, he unlocked the door and went inside. He dropped his bag and walked to the living room. He noticed that his older brother, Ace, was already laying on the couch while watching tv. Luffy sat down beside him.

Although they weren't blood related, Ace looked remarkably like his youngest brother. However, Ace was more serious looking, taller and more muscular. He also sported rather childish freckles across his face.

He tended to randomly fall asleep while eating and talking, which Luffy found really funny.

Ace looked up from the tv and turned to face him, "Yo Luffy, how was school?"

"It was uh... fun I guess..." Luffy looked away, he didn't want to tell him anything about what happened.

Ace raised an eyebrow, "what's wrong?"

"Nothing..." he mumbled.

"You're such a bad liar." He rolled his eyes, "Now tell me what's wrong or do you want me to get it out of ya?"

"..."

"..."

Luffy gave up and sighed. "Do I really have to tell you...?"

Ace sat up and gave him a hard look, Luffy gulped.

"Did something bad happened?"

"Not really, no." Luffy replied

"Then what?"

"I... I think I'm in love..." he said softly.

His older brother looked at him and blinked a few times, he then suddenly doubled himself up and burst into a loud harsh cackle of laughter,

"HAAHHAHA, good one!!"

Ace clearly didn't take him seriously.

"Mannnn, you really got me! I almost believed you!" He said while trying to catch his breath.

Luffy crossed his arms. "It's not a joke Ace..."

Ace returned his attention to Luffy and stopped laughing almost immediately.
"You're kidding, right?"

Luffy only shook his head.

Ace knew Luffy wasn't lying this time and his eyes widened in disbelief.

"What the hell, Lu?!"

The younger brother decided to just tell him everything. He told Ace about his teacher, what had happened at school and on the bus.
Ace only looked at him, his mouth and eyes still wide.

"So yeah..." luffy finished, a light blush covering his cheeks.

"Damn... I would never have thought that...you could fall in love.."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Luffy pouted.

"You're just so... innocent! You're way too young to fall in love Lu, especially with your teacher!" The freckled man pinched his brother's cheek.

"I'm not a kid anymore! I can choose for myself ya know!" Luffy pushed his hand away and rubbed his cheek.

"No, you can't! That teacher of yours is probably just a pervert anyway! "

"No he isn't!"

"How could you be so sure, huh?"

They kept arguing like this for a while until they both were snapped out of it by their other brother who had just entered.

Luffy quickly made a sign to Ace that he didn't want that Sabo knew about his little crush.

"Keep it a secret" He whispered and Ace nodded. His older brothers are both too overprotective of him but Sabo's just scary when he becomes protective. For example, last year someone tried to ask Luffy's number. Sabo then took the stranger's phone and crushed it with his bare hand, saying that he should leave his little brother alone. The stranger was so scared he runned away.

People call it a brother complex.

Sabo was the tallest and more 'mature' one of the three. He had curly blond hair and a scar he acquired over his left eye.

He made his way to the couch and smiled down at them, "What were you two arguing about when I came in?"

"Nothing!" Luffy said quickly and decided to change the subject, "A-anyway... What are you gonna make for dinner?"

Sabo shrugged "Pizza?"

"Yeah, sounds good." Ace said and Luffy agreed.

"Alright then." Sabo replied and walked to the kitchen.

Ace and Luffy looked back at each other and sighed in relief. "You were lucky this time Lu, but Sabo will find out somehow you know."

Yeah, Luffy already knew that. Sabo was smart.

"I'll try to hide it as long as I can... it's just a crush, it'll probably go away anyway..."

They both decided to leave their conversation at an end and  watched some tv instead. Luffy could feel his phone vibrate in his pocket a few times. It was probably Zoro, asking him tons of questions about what had happened. He didn't really feel like replying.

Yeah... Luffy should just give up on Law right? It's not like he has a chance anyway.

But deep inside, Luffy knew he wouldn't give up.

He liked Torao.

A lot.
