I need you too

"You ready, kid?" Haymitch asks with a needle in his hand. We arrived in District 1 last night but I wasn't awake to see so who knows what's behind the doors.

"I guess" I reply as I brace myself. I turn to Katniss, taking her hand.

"See you soon" I whisper but she just smiles at me.

"We've lowered the dose so the effects won't last as long. Ready on 3" He starts to count down "1,-" He shoves the needle into my head then catches me as I fall. I feel the drug run through me. We've tested it so many times before but it burns more each time it's done. The drug runs to my leg and arms causing them to flip violently.

"Watch out" He pulls Katniss to the side just before I swing at her. A few minutes pass and I stop moving and just lay there panting.

I look up to Haymitch "You said ready on 3 not 1!" I yell at him in frustration.

"No, I'm pretty sure I said ready on 1" He laughs as he pulls me to my feet. I rub my head and already feel the bruise start to form. "Okay, let me test you."

"Test me on what?" I ask but he justs sighs.

"Who's Katniss Everdeen?" The name rings in my head so I massage my temples. I feel like I should know her but I don't tell Haymitch.

"Katniss who?"

"Good. The doors will open any minute so be ready for the crowds" He warns me because he knows I've developed a fear of them since leaving the Capitol. "Just read the cards that Effie gave you"

I pull them out of my suit pocket and turn towards the doors as they swing open. The crowds of District 1 cheer but I know they all hate me. Images of Glimmer and Marvel hang from structures above their family's heads. I pull out the cards and start to read.

"People of District 1, today we celebrate the lives of Glimmer and Marvel who both volenteered to take part in The Hunger Games. I was allied with them for a short time in the arena before parting ways. I remember listening to their cannons go off. They were both brilliant warriors." I take a pause but someone yells out.

"IT'S KATNISS' FAULT!"  I look up to see a member of Glimmer's family had screamed above the crowds causing whispers in the audience. Katniss?

Suddenly, I see a flash before my eyes, I blink as I am blinded by the light but everyone just stares. I clear my throat to continue.

"We, the people of Panem must stay strong during these times as we remember the fallen tributes." I recite their names but the crowds start to talk when I finish.

"YOU FORGOT KATNISS" Someone yells. Another flash appears before me but fades until someone else calls out.

"YOU'RE THE ONE THAT LOVED HER!" Flashes begin the appear more rapidly now; one after the other. I look at the audience who don't move. I rub my eyes as the flashes appear every time I blink but  I drop the cards to the floor. I attempt to pick them up but I can barely see as the flashes appear every few seconds now. I fall onto my knees and rub my eyes trying to stop the blinding lights.

"WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM?" Another stranger yells out. As I look up, the audience gasp in shock but I don't know why. Do they see the flashes?

"WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH HIS EYES?" Someone on the front row cries out.

I stand up and stumble through the doors of the justic building, behind the stage. I knock people out of the way in my attempt to escape the flashing but it follows me as I wobble on my feet. I stop infront of a mirror to see what's wrong with me. Between flashes I see my eyes have become extremely blood shot. I have rubbed off my make up  by mistake, exposing my dark circles.
